Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing Jehovah-Jireh...
    Above the daily grind...
    Shalom!

“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24, HCSB)

I have thought long and hard on condensing an explanation from what I’ve read and studied about spirituality that I am comfortable with. Two scriptures have been instrumental in doing so. The first one you just read. The second one picks up where that one leaves off. “For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man that is in him? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who comes from God, so that we may understand what has been freely given to us by God. We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people.” (1 Corinthians 2:11–13, HCSB)

For my simple uncomplicated meaning/explanation of spirituality is experiencing God through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. To the scriptures above Kathryn J. Hermes adds, “Spirituality has to do with our deepest needs, anxieties, joys, hopes, and fears, our values and dreams. It is a part of our daily life and propels us to rise above the daily grind. It fuels our work, our relationships, our prayer, pushing us to live with greater meaning and intensity. Spirituality takes us as we are and connects us to God as God is.” (Beginning Contemplative Prayer: Out of Chaos into Quiet (p. 1). Boston, MA: Pauline Books & Media.)

“It (spirituality) is a part of our daily life and propels us to rise above the daily grind.” What’s your “daily grind”? Out of control high blood glucose readings are mine. For a couple of months I have been working with my doctor to get it back down in normal ranges. I’m angry! I’m frustrated! I’ve wanted to quit and go on a sugar eating binge! I’ve prayed! I’ve begged God! I’ve argued with God! The only thing I haven’t tried is holding my breath only because my pulmonary fibrosis won’t allow me to! Yet in spite of my tendency to cross into the dark side out of God’s strong spiritual ties with me come the strength, courage, the drive to keep going, until the lifting power of the Holy Spirit raises me above the daily grind.

Spirituality takes you and all your daily grind and connects you to God as God is.

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”**

    GRACE and PEACE,
    Gary
