We've been telling you that NYT, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, have been nothing but liberal shills and "enemies of the people" for years now Jimmy. And NOW you think it is just a lie told by Trump to control the media?

Dude, if Trump wanted to control the media, all he has to do is play nice with them like Obama did for 8 years. They ate him up and did whatever Obama wanted. How in the hell will Trump take control of the world by pissing off the Press?

Trump has reduced the mainstream media to acting desperate, defensive, and reactionary. They're scared to death that Trump's message is resonating with the public, which is why you have things like Mr. Tapper's temper tantrum that you helpfully posted (thanks, it was good for a laugh. ). While they're busy telling us that Trump is a crybaby, the average man-on-the-street is saying, "Did you see Trump's press conference? He destroyed the media! Haha!"

I don't think Trump can help it. Winning seems to be part of his DNA.

Yeah, its no wonder you believe that, since the right wing talking heads have been spoon feeding it to you for years. Trump is merely latching on to what he recognized as the naive misinformed republican sheep that the conservative propagandists created. Whats interesting is how you never question the constant and obvious lies coming out of the mouth of Trump, but the MSM you call fake news. You have an obvious bias that you are unable to overcome. So sad.

Well so far the MSM has been caught lying and exaggerating several times. If they don't want to be accused of "fake news" then they should stop printing fake news and biased news with an agenda.

You know how bad it would be in a country with the press being controlled by the government? It would be bad. But what people don't realize is it is just as bad when the press is controlled by a political party. Which is is. Now I am not saying it is a conspiracy, it is just that most of the news and media companies are staffed and run by liberals. Who of course want to promote their own views. Used to be newpapers and journalism taught reporters to keep the news to the facts and not inject opinions. That has pretty much stopped with the internet and blogs, which has now bled into the mainstream media as these bloggers start getting more readers than the newspapers, and the MSM has tried to keep up and has even hired these opinionated bloggers as their reporters. So the days of unbiased news are gone. And the result is that the MSM is defacto run by the Democratic Party. Which I think you probably like since it is on "your side" but the problem is that, in fact, the "government" owns the press. It just happens that at the moment the democrats are not in charge of the country. But a few months ago they were. Everything was nice and smooth then, government and press slapping each other's backs and making kissy faces. But now that the democrats are out of power, they are using their press to fight the current government. Trying to win over the American people with their propoganda.

so instead of a free and independent press, we have a flunky press. Owned by and run by liberals.

If the situation were reversed, which one day it might the way the MSM keeps shooting themselves in the foot, you might have the press run by the conservatives. Then you won't be so happy and will start whining how unfair it all is.

I think we all should desire a Press that is unbiased to either side. That is the "freedom of the press" that we require to keep the government in check.

How is that meaningful? Before Trump republicans were useful idiots for the Progressive Hegemony. Trump is the first person to genuinely pose a threat to them in decades. It's a given they would find him to lie the most because the entire "fact checking" process is perfect for manipulating that kind of information without even lying outright (not that politifact doesn't blatantly lie, mind you).

That almost never happened before either (IE: fraud Walter Cronkite), it's just that before there was nobody to stop them from lying and manipulating public opinion.

The news has never been objective and unbiased. Traditionally, news organizations are started by rich businessmen who want to publish the news as they see it with the ultimate goal of swaying public opinion (and making a healthy profit). This romantic notion of a hardened, world-weary reporter doggedly pursuing the truth and printing nothing but cold, hard, facts really doesn't exist. There's always an agenda. A story can be technically factual but biased in that it only gives voice to one side of an issue. The primary difference today is that they can't get away with it like they used to.

Historically newspapers were the mouth pieces of various interests including political parties but this changed during the early-mid 20th century.
