anxiety help
Ok, I have something of a weird problem. I went to the doctor yesterday because I had (and still have) breathing problems. Doctor told me my breathing is perfectly normal.
As far as I can tell, I have most of the physical symptoms of anxiety listed on wiki but none of the emotional ones. No feeling of dread or apprehension or anything. This leaves me at a loss as to how to deal with it. The physical symptoms are annoying (and the shortness of breath is particularly distracting), but I can't just "take it easy" because I'm not feeling particularly overwhelmed by anything or even all that stressed.
Any suggestions?"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Re: anxiety help
What do you think you could even be anxious about?

Re: anxiety help
I don't know. I guess finding a job would be nice, but I've been unemployed for almost a month, and I recently had a breakthrough in that I managed to get an interview with a very good company and as far as I can tell the interview went well enough. As I said, mentally I'm fine, I just have the physical symptoms.

Re: anxiety help
Well, this seems to have gotten worse because it's starting to take a toll on my mind (emotion wise) as well and I'm 99% certain it's anxiety related. I feel pretty much like Mr Spock in the eye of a hurricane. I'll go see a doctor again tomorrow but some short term advice could be useful.

Re: anxiety help
did you find out what was wrong Darth?
I was recently having some similar problems and found out I have an under active thyroid which has been causing all kinds of thingsI've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

Re: anxiety help
You don't even have to be consciously anxious of anything. That is a common misconception. I was surprised Nick to see you ask it. It is almost like some people saying to a depressed person, just be happy. It isn't like that.

Re: anxiety help
Nope. I'm better now though, particularly since I got a temporary job that should give me little time to worry about anything other than getting up at inhuman hours in the morning.

May I suggest mood gym.
http://moodgym.anu.edu.au/welcome/new/terms
It's run by an Australian university as a cognitive behaviour therapy for anxiety and depression. The section on anxiety has some quite useful exercises.
