Re: Guess what I bought?
One nice thing about the Zune is that a single development environment and framework -- VS2008-VS2010 + XNA3.1 -- will let you write graphics apps for the PC, XBox360, and Zune. All the features of the devices are not the same, of course, but large common portions can be factored out of many app libraries and used on all three.

Re: Guess what I bought?
I really debated getting a Zune HD when they came out. They are very nice looking. And the OLED screen + NVidia Tegra chip makes it very powerful and sexy.
Only thing that stopped me is I don't have a Win pc to sync it to. But I could easily see using it as my sole "Media PC" some day.

Re: Guess what I bought?
I would never buy anything from Apple for the expectation of the future. Apple regularly shutters whole product categories with nary a peep. And Apple, especially with the iPod line, will stop providing new software to older devices.
Microsoft's record, on the other hand, has almost universally been the opposite. For goodness sakes, they're still providing new software and new updates for XP which is 9 years old at this point. Apple doesn't provide updates to OS X.0, roughly the same age. Heck, Apple doesn't even really support Tiger and that was released only 5 years ago.
The only intelligent thing to do is to buy devices that currently work the way you want them to today, not how you hope they might work tomorrow. Especially if who you're buying from is Apple.

Re: Guess what I bought?
Thanks Cir. So far, I've loved it. I'm simple in what I want a device to do. Plays music, check. Plays videos, check. Plays radio, check. Outputs to my bedroom tv, check. That's all I need. My only gripe is that there is no "exit" button on any of the applications. The pause button is it. Seems strange to me, but from what I understand, all digital media players are like that.
