Recommended Christian Books?
Well, my birthday comin' around the corner, and I figured I would be gettin' some study material.
I've got 51 books on a list that vary from Metaphysics, Ancient History, Exegesis, General Apologetics, etc. I doubt I'll be getting through them all any time soon. Still, I'd very much like to get through them at some point.
Nevertheless, I'm looking for more recommendations, and what better place to come to than the TWEB audience.
Specifically, I'm thinking about material that actually goes so far as taking other ancient texts and comparing the Bible to it, serving to test the Bible's authenticity as well as evaluate the nature and literary genre of various books. Is there any book that falls along these lines?
I'm was thinking of a book that focuses entirely on the Cosmic Fine-Tuning Argument. I was really looking forward to a book from Robin Collins that was supposed to come out called "The Well-Tempered Universe". Does anyone know when this will be out, or if it is already, and would you recommend it if that is the case? Perhaps you know of other works that you would recommend?
Finally, I'm thinking of anything that would cover the truth of much of the OT. I am aware that much of the OT is etiological, but I am aware that there has been a great deal confirmed in it. Does anyone know of anything that they would recommend. I've already got a set of books, but I'm always looking for more material."Granted that the majority are able at last to own or hire the modern house with all its improvements. While civilization has been improving our houses, it has not equally improved the men who are to inhabit them. It has created palaces, but it was not easy to create noblemen and kings." ~~~Henry David Thoreau
"I find your lack of faith - disturbing." ~~Darth Vader
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline." (Proverbs 1:7) ~~King Solomon
"Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:44)~~Jesus of Nazareth
"Labor to keep alive in your breast that little spark of celestial fire called conscience." ~~~George Washington
"I have carefully examined the evidences of the Christian religion, and if I was sitting as a juror upon its authenticity I would unhesitatingly give my verdict in its favor. I can prove its truth as clearly as any proposition ever submitted to the mind of man." ~~Alexander Hamilton

Re: Recommended Christian Books?
Reasons to Believe has a number of resources along these lines, though I don't know of a book entirely on this subject.
I enjoyed "Cities of The Biblical World", though no doubt much has been discovered since this book came out. There are many such resources! Happy hunting...Finally, I'm thinking of anything that would cover the truth of much of the OT. I am aware that much of the OT is etiological, but I am aware that there has been a great deal confirmed in it.

I had a look at that book, and decided to add it to my list. It looks as though it will be a good guide.
Thank you and God Bless."Granted that the majority are able at last to own or hire the modern house with all its improvements. Re: Recommended Christian Books?
Got a list of your books online somewhere? (Say, LibraryThing?) That'd make it plenty easier. If you don't have On the Reliability of the Old Testament by K. A. Kitchen, that'd be absolutely essential. And for the cosmic fine-tuning argument, I recommend Rodney Holder's God, the Multiverse, and Everything: Modern Cosmology and the Argument from Design for a very solid book-length treatment, and Neil A. Manson, ed., God and Design: The Teleological Argument and Modern Science for a great collection of essays (of varying quality) from both sides.
"If God has given [his people] such joy now, joy in their faith, in their hope, in love, in the truth of his scriptures, what kind of joy is he preparing for them at the end? If he feeds them like this on the journey, how will he feast them in their homeland?"--Augustine of Hippo

Re: Recommended Christian Books?
Thank you all, this is much appreciated. Rational Graze, it's funny that half of your recommendations are already on my list

Still, the rest of your recommendations look promising.
