  • Dozens fired after "Day with no Immigrants" protest

    http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/...grants-n722991

What did they expect would happen if they didn't go to work because of a political agenda?

I wonder what will happen with the "Day without Women?"

I think anyone that protests political nonsense by staging a walkout at a place of business, doesn't deserve the job. The only people they are hurting are the people they work for. So if they dislike their employers that much, then they deserve to be fired.

    Hey...

Trump just made the liberal immigrants create even MORE jobs for deserving Americans. He has the opposition working on fulfilling his promises!

We need a "day without liberals".

        If only.

This whole protest is idiotic. Trump never said anything about LEGAL immigrants. Just about ILLEGAL Immigrants. And criminals.

Heck he is MARRIED to an immigrant. And she is the one that everyone is treating like dirt. Why aren't they supporting her, if they are for immigrants?

What in the world do you think you're doing? Silly Sparko, you're fighting rhetoric, not logic. That's like bringing swords to an axe fight!

One business, the I Don’t Care Bar and Grill in Catoosa, Oklahoma, fired several workers by text message: “You and your family are fired. I hope you enjoyed your day off, and you can enjoy many more. Love you.” The next day, the restaurant posted an announcement looking for new workers on Facebook.

The migrant workers say they felt their firings were unfair, but the owner had a long-standing “no call/no show” policy.

Another 18 employees working at Bradley Coatings in Tennessee told their bosses they were skipping work to protest in a “Day Without Immigrants” demonstration. The business promptly fired them for missing work.

“I would tell him he was unfair, after working for them for so many years, giving him our best,” one migrant worker told KTNV. “They could not understand that it was just one day. We were going to make up that day on a Sunday, but they didn’t understand that, and it was not the best way. They didn’t give us an opportunity and just told us we were fired.”

"But it was just one day!" Stupid self-entitled brat.

What's even funnier is that their protest was completely pointless. Nobody dislikes immigrants. It's the illegals we have a problem with.

In the places where I have worked, missing one day of work without permission does not get you fired, though you do receive discipline and will get fired if you do it again. If they got fired after working for just one day, I would expect they had probably gotten in trouble for something already.

Oh, I'm sure the employers were making there own point (basically, if you want to be political activist then do it on your own time), and they have every right to do so.

It's pretty sad that US employment law provides insufficient protections for workers that people can lose their jobs due to being only absent for a single day. Workers in the US deserve better rights, like they have elsewhere in the Western world.

Its not about their employers doofus, its about Trump and his policys. That only dozens out of thousands were fired doesn't seem like very many employers sided with your heartless attitude. Many if not most of the employers support the immigrants protest.

It probably never occured to you that the ones that had to pick up the slack were glad to do it in support of their immigrant friends. Some of the businesses themselves shut down in support of their immigrant employees. Not everyone is a thoughtless selfish jerk you know.

Oh, look, Dimbulb is ignorantly bashing the US again.

There's nothing wrong with US employment law, because no employer should have to put up with a worker who decides to blow-off work for a day and leave the business shorthanded. These employees quite clearly intended to stick it to the "man" by demonstrating how valuable they were to the proper functioning of business. Well, it seems they made their point, because their employers decided they weren't very valuable at all. So mission accomplished!
