  • Don the Con's endless lies

Donald Trump’s streak of falsehoods now stands at 33 days according to the Washington Post's fact-checkers:

Donald Trump has been president for all or part of 33 days. He has averaged four falsehoods or misleading statements a day(!) in that time. There hasn't been a single day of Trump's presidency in which he has said nothing false or misleading.

Their calendar of his false statements looks like this:

Other fact-checkers had similar findings during Trump's campaign:
    • The Toronto Star fact-checked every public word out of Trump's mouth for a period of 28 days last September, and found 560 falsehoods - i.e. 20 per day. (They fact-checked every word out of Clinton's mouth during the same period and found 13 falsehoods)

    • Politico's fact-checker found Trump making 87 false statements in 5 days, which worked out at 17 falsehoods a day, or one false statement per 3.25 minutes of speaking during 5 hours of talking analysed.

    • Politifact has a number of categories it ranks statements in, but of the hundreds of Trump's statements it has fact-checked it has ranked 70% as mostly false, false, or pants on fire

Various conservative posters here have taken to saying "[citation needed]" when people refer to Agent Orange's tendency to lie a lot, so I thought I'd clear things up with this thread.

Not to mention that Trump seems to love to do all the bad things he accused Obama and Hillary of.

He critiqued Obama for golfing too much, but Trump has visited his golf resort every weekend since he became president.

He accused Hillary of pay to play, but Trump has told the paying members of his clubs that they are the 'special people' with special access to him as president and invited them to help him select cabinet appointees.

He called Hillary "crooked", but Trump seems to be much more crooked.

It seems to be projection all the way down with Trump.

Yes, but if you look at Dimbulb's links, you'll find that liberals have their own problems with the truth. For instance, Trump said that Obama wanted to let 200,000 refugees into the country. The Washington Post says, "That's a lie! Obama only planned to let in 185,000 refugees! Four Pinocchios!" Really? At worst you could accuse Trump of being imprecise, but declaring it a flat out lie? Give me a break. Or how about Trump's estimate that the border wall will cost between $8 million to $12 million. The Washington Post says, "That's a lie! We think it will cost more! Four Pinocchios!" Again, really? In a similar vein, there's Trump's claim that he could eliminate the $19 trillion debt in 8-years. The Washington Post says, "That's a lie! We don't think he can! Four Pinocchios!" Once again, really? Just because you happen to disagree with a statement doesn't make it a lie. And one from the Politico, Trump says that excessive regulations cost our economy $2 trillion a year. Politico says, "That's a lie! We found some analysts who 'question' the methodology of the report that Trump takes that figure from!" Yeah, OK. One more, Trump says that Hillary planned to raise taxes. The Politico says, "That's a lie! Hillary is only raising taxes on the 'wealthy'!" Which is say that Trump was telling the truth, but the Politico still calls it a lie.

And on it goes. People who have such a casual relationship with the truth have no business calling Donald Trump a liar.

MM is right. these lists of "lies" is so obviously the left nitpicking every figure and statement to extreme measures in order to call it a lie. All that does is make them look petty and, juvenile and desperate.

Trump has never been precise in his wording. He speaks in general terms. Like a normal person.

This is rather funny, from the November 4 Toronto Star article that Dimbulb linked to:

                  Source: Toronto Star

“We’re leading Ohio by five or six points, we’re even in Florida, we’re leading North Carolina.” — Oct. 24

The day he said this, Trump was wrong on all three counts.

It seems clear Trump manipulates, exaggerates or makes up polls that make it sound as if he is doing better than he actually is. This “poll denialism” gives his supporters licence to dismiss negative polling data, suggests CNN.

Gee, didn't Trump end up winning Ohio, Florida, and North Carolina? So maybe not a lie after all.

LOL! they have the gall to talk about exaggerating polls? He was right and the left was completely shocked when he won "but, but, da POLLS!"

Did you miss the point? Most of what the left insists are Donald Trump's lies, aren't actually lies.
