Apologetics 301 Guidelines

If you think this is the area where you tell everyone you are sorry for eating their lunch out of the fridge, it probably isn't the place for you

This forum is open discussion between atheists and all theists to defend and debate their views on religion or non-religion. Please respect that this is a Christian-owned forum and refrain from gratuitous blasphemy. VERY wide leeway is given in range of expression and allowable behavior as compared to other areas of the forum, and moderation is not overly involved unless necessary. Please keep this in mind. Atheists who wish to interact with theists in a way that does not seek to undermine theistic faith may participate in the World Religions Department. Non-debate question and answers and mild and less confrontational discussions can take place in General Theistics.

Presumably they think so. People generally don’t commit themselves to things they believe to be wrong. Sadly the deluded religious belief that some brands of religion are “right” and all the others are “wrong” has been the cause of many problems in society...even wars.

Then this works as a point for Christianity because the vast majority of Christians have taken something entirely different away from their faith.

For the sarcastically impaired the following is said in jest

Some humans are evil jerks. Therefore the entire species is evil and deserves to die!

By the logic of certain fundy atheists, I could claim that atheism is evil just because Stalin was an atheist.

You’re utilising a most absurd form of the tu quoque (“you too”) fallacy. ALL religion, including Christianity, has a long inglorious history of atrocities in the name of the one true god just as bad as Stalin et al and over a much longer period...millennia rather than decades.

In fact those societies today that are the most religious...where faith in God is strong and religious participation is high...tend to have the highest violent crime rates, while those societies in which faith and church attendance are the weakest...the most secular societies...tend to have the lowest. - Phil Zuckerman, professor of secular studies at Pitzer College

Well science is obviously better equipped than god at detecting the fact of global warming.

"Over the past 50 years, the average global temperature has increased at the fastest rate in recorded history. And experts see the trend is accelerating: All but one of the 16 hottest years in NASA’s 134-year record have occurred since 2000".

Those that deny this, like Trump, and refuse to support the modification of carbon dioxide output and other air pollutants and greenhouse gasses, are condemning our children and grandchildren to a grossly degraded environment and lifestyle.

You cannot visit an Amish community without tripping over a murder victim.
Actually YOU put Trump in the White House. He wouldn't have gotten 1% of the vote if it wasn't for the widespread spiritual and cultural devastation caused by progressive policies. There's no "this country" left with your immigration policies, your "allies" are worthless and even more suicidal than you are and democracy is a sick joke that I hope nobody ever thinks about repeating when the current order collapses. - Darth_Executor striking a conciliatory note in Civics 101

That's why we need Jesus! Anyways, what's with the idiot who thinks that you can falsify Christianity based on the evil behavior of a few who claim to be Christians? Christianity stands or falls on the truth of the Resurrection, not our behavior. Besides, one of the points of Christianity is that we are a bunch of evil jerks compared to Jesus, so it's silly to complain that we don't act like Jesus 24/7. Actually, if Jesus were somehow here on Earth in the present, people might find something to complain about Him. Somehow.
