Do mormons worship Jesus?
I would like to know if mormons worship Jesus? If not why not? Are there any examples of Jesus receiving worship in the Bible? I'm curious to find out due to ldstrue claiming he only worships the Father.

Re: Do mormons worship Jesus?
What part of "true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him" don't you get???
So according to you I should only love, revere, honor, respect and appreciate Jesus and not His Father for sending Him to die on the cross for me and atone for my sins. Jesus would have us worshiping His Father and God as instructed in scripture!!!
We are to worship the Father and the only way unto the Father is by Jesus "no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" and yet I’m to only love, revere, honor, respect and appreciate Jesus and NOT His Father for sending Him to show me the strait gate and narrow way to eternal life which is through His Son Jesus.
That scripture says the Father, I repeat, THE FATHER, seeketh worship, not your homogenized three person melded into a one God being.
I love, revere, honor, respect and appreciate Jesus for all that He has accomplished on my behalf and made possible for my family and I however that is not at the exclusion of my worship of His Father and God.
I worship Father, Jesus' Father and God as directed in scripture and not anything like you have conjured up in His place made with three persons homogenized and melded together resulting in a one God being.
Scripture in I John 4:9-1 gives reason enough to "worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.”

Re: Do mormons worship Jesus?
You could just answer the question(but I think your afraid to). Actually if I recall we never discussed worshipping Jesus there, the only thing I remember is the mormons admitting that you don't pray to Jesus. I wonder how far lds missionaries would get if the told potential converts up front that mormons do not worship Jesus or pray to him.

Re: Do mormons worship Jesus?
Jesus was the man. I do not worship any man nor did Jesus say "worship me". Creed says I worship God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. That is worship of God not worship of Jesus the man. Jesus taught his disciples how to pray beginning with the words "Our Father". He did not say "My Father" nor did he say "Dear Jesus" to begin that lesson. Nowhere does Paul admonish anyone in his epistles to worship Jesus. Paul can be difficult to read Read carefully such passages as 1 Thessalonians 3:11-13 to grasp how Paul prays and see that his worship is directed to God the Father.
I apologize for the intrusion into an LDS thread but it seemed an opportunity to state that as a follower of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, God's holy servant (Peter's form of address) I worship God just as Jesus asked of us. Accepting Jesus as Lord and savior is reflected in worship of God.

Re: Do mormons worship Jesus?
Eeset, Jesus is numerically identical to God the Son.
And LDSTrue, as a Trinitarian I worship the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit--and I worship them as one everlasting God, to whom be all praise and glory and honor. I don't know of any orthodox Christian who would say to worship Jesus but not to worship the Father, and so I strongly suspect that you're engaging in caricature.
So how about you? Do you worship the Son?"If God has given [his people] such joy now, joy in their faith, in their hope, in love, in the truth of his scriptures, what kind of joy is he preparing for them at the end? If he feeds them like this on the journey, how will he feast them in their homeland?"--Augustine of Hippo

Re: Do mormons worship Jesus?
Thank you for having the courage to admitt you don't worship Jesus(which I hope the mormons will to). However you are wrong Biblicaly and the following verses are some that show why we worship Jesus. Oh and by the way Jesus is God just read John 1.
Matthew 8:2 - A leper came and worshipped Jesus. [9:18; 15:25; Mark 5:6]
Matthew 14:33 - After Jesus had calmed the storm, the disciples worshipped Him saying He was the Son of God.
John 9:38 - After Jesus had healed the blind man, He revealed Himself to be the Son of God (v35). The man said he believed, and he worshipped Jesus.
Matthew 28:9,17 - After His resurrection, His disciples worshipped Him. [Cf. John 20:28,29]
Luke 24:52 - Even after He had ascended back to heaven, they worshipped Him.
Hebrews 1:6 - Angels are instructed by God to worship Jesus.
Looks like you and the mormons have some hurdles to clear.

Re: Do mormons worship Jesus?
If you want to misinterpret Jesus's own words I can't stop you. I have no hurdles to clear. I worship God and that includes Christ as well as everything that he has created. But you should read Mark 13:32 very carefully. I think we have a communication problem here. If you worship Christ I will join with you but if you worship the human vessel known as Jesus then your understanding of the trinity and mine are substantially different. I will not judge you. I wish you all the best as you seek to increase your faith and understanding.

Re: Do mormons worship Jesus?
Hello Eeset!!

Indeed, Jesus has taught us to pray to and to give all Glory to Father. I think there is a misunderstanding by those who believe otherwise. They think that because we do not pray to or worship Jesus, that we do not love or appreciate what our beloved Savior has done for us. They think that unless we do pray and worship Jesus, that we cannot know Him or have a personal relationship with Him. However, I have found that I get to know Him better and even learn to appreciate Him more by following Him and His teachings. This may appear as a paradox to some. I have heard it said that imitation is the greatest form of praise. So in this respect, Jesus is able to see our love for Him. It seems that would be much more preferable for Jesus to see that those who love and follow Him are actually praying and worshiping Father just like Jesus taught us, rather than by disobeying His teachings.
God bless. It's good to hear from you again!

Re: Do mormons worship Jesus?
Jo thank you for taking the lead as a mormon and admitting you don't pray to or worship Jesus. How do you interpret the list of verses I gave that show Angels and men worshiping Jesus and Jesus? And can you give an example of a personal relationship that requires no communication between the individuals?

Re: Do mormons worship Jesus?
Scripture in 1 John 4:9-10 gives reason enough to "worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.”
See, very good reason to worship the Father, the Father and God of Jesus.
In your mind, is Jesus Father? You know, the Father Jesus was referencing when He said...
I realize there were occasions when Jesus was worshiped by those He was healing.
However, can you produce a scripture from the New Testament, if not exactly like, very similar to the one saying we should worship the Father "the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:for the Father seeketh such to worship him?”
You know, a scripture mentioning Jesus and stating; 'true worshippers shall worship Jesus in spirit and in truth: for Jesus seeketh such to worship him.'
It seems for now, if one wants to be considered and classed as a true worshiper one must worship the Father (Jesus' Father and God) "in spirit and in truth" so I'm not going to neglect my worship of the Father... regardless of your habits!
