You've forgotten already how you, jo, jeff, and ldstrue went to great lengths to show that mormons do not and are not to pray to Jesus? How about some honesty oc! A mormon shows up here and disagrees with you and your trying to make it sound like you don't! And remember Jo and ldstrue disagree with you about worshiping Jesus. So much for mormon unity jo constantly harps about!

I agree. after all Brigham Young is the black sheep of the LDS prophets. You all sweep his statements under the rug as much as you can.

he was more of an embarrassment to the church than anything else, right?

He assigned each of these prophets to come to earth at a particular time and in circumstances where, in the foreknowledge of God, his talents would be most beneficial to the kingdom of God and to mankind in general.

And sent one to give polygamy before changing his mind and deciding it should be taken away again, conveniently when the government started pressing in.

Makes me wonder if God will change his mind again if homosexual marriage ever becomes legalized nationwide.

You don't think it's odd that Hinkley made this statement about prophets being appointed for specific times, and Brigham Young happened to be the guy who was present during a very racist part of our history? BY wasn't exactly the model for civil rights, was he? (And this is one of those classic "that was then, this is now" teachings)

It was a quote by a Mormon about a Mormon - both of whom were pretty important people in Mormonism, don't you think?
