      Welcome to Theology Web Campus!

      SHD,
Perhaps they do. (ref: your 2nd stanza)

Study is certainly an important but not essential requirement.
Of course it would largely depend on what you meant by the word "live" (ref: your 1st stanza)

      Thanks,

Re: Does the Universe effect our behaviour?

By live a long time, I mean to exist for a long time, whether in this body or another. It matters not, so long as one lives long enough to study the movement of the bodies in the universe and whether they have an effect on a human body or other living bodies, be they humans or otherwise.

And thank you for welcoming me. :)

For example, the apparent effect the moon has on humans, could very well be psychological and not caused by the moon itself. I don't think any real study, or long enough studies have been put into the subject of if the universe has an effect on humans.

I for one, if I have a garden, don't pay any damn attention to the moon or such things. I sure don't use crystals when I'm sick, etc. I do think that if someone believes strongly enough in the crystal, they might see some results, but that is probably to do with the power of their mind rather than the crystal. See what I mean?

      I understand.

I may be a little out-of-my-depth here, but I think that you are only scratching the surface and need to dive deeper into the meaning of the word "live" or "to live"

      Sincerely,

Took me a few days but I had to look up several big words.

"Why Should Shadowmaster become and Atheist?" reminds me of so many of the threads I have read here, since 2006. They were fun, informative and sensitive.

      Q. "Does the universe effect our behavior?"

I think you meant "affect" not "effect".

Regardless, my answer is: No, not in the slightest.

It seems to me like you have a personal issue with me becaue of my nick name. I can only hope that you grow out of this. Being able to find my way around a forum quickly hardly fits any definition of skittish. I probaly should not have even bothered to reply to this, but I hope that by doing so, you can see the problem with your reply. I can always hope. :)

Thanks for pointing that out fetal_bandito,

I only noticed that later on in the thread and here is the Oxford definition of both words:

To affect something is to change or influence it, To effect something is a rather formal way of saying `to make it happen'. Confusingly, either may produce an 'effect' or result. ('An affect' is a technical term in psychology.)

The stability of the wall was affected by passing lorries.
The demolition of the wall was effected by the detonation of a charge of dynamite.
The dynamite did not just 'affect' (influence) the demolition of the wall: it caused it.

      Sincerely,
      HH

      (i) Astrology

      Attachment 78369

Dr Mike Hapgood, an expert in what astronomers refer to as "sun- Earth interactions" at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire, England, says we have no real data on how, if at all, magnetic fields might affect human behaviour. "There's an interesting question there and it's not something that is well understood," he says.

Something that I am really, really, really interested in. (or should be )

      o. Aliens (Extraterrestrial Life)

      Attachment 78392

"We Are Not Alone" - National Geographic Channel

'Extraterrestrial life is defined as life which does not originate from planet Earth. The word "extraterrestrial" is derived from the Latin extra ("outside", "outwards") and terrestris ("earthly", of or relating to the Earth). The existence of such life is theoretical and all assertions about it remain disputed.'

'Panspermia (Greek: πανσπερμία from πᾶς/πᾶν (pas/pan) "all" and σπέρμα (sperma) "seed") is the hypothesis that "seeds" of life exist already all over the Universe, that life on Earth may have originated through these "seeds", and that they may deliver or have delivered life to other habitable bodies.'

Names don't bother me, though you certainly picked a bad one. The name of the 2nd most mysterious being in this world. I think it was the Times which once printed an article title, "What is the cause of all the troubles in our World?" - the answer.... "I am" - G.K. Chesterton.
I've seen you blokes come and go, some really wild names, "HELLBOY" and once a guy called "Satan666" and he only lasted one night. Posted up some pornography and got banned. (btw. that was on apologetics.com - where I think you might fare better when you have learned not to get you fingers trapped under the piano lid - in the Logic Dept. )

      Take care STA(Y) awhile,
