A Way To A Great Son

After a few weeks on this, his hair was falling out, he didn't know if he would live or die, and the medicines started having psychotic effects on him He was hearing voices telling him to hurt his mother, and actually called 911 on himself so he wouldn't hurt someone. He was put in a juvenile psych facility for a few days, the meds were weaned off, and he was back to his old self in a couple of weeks. The experience affected him profoundly, and he did express doubts about his faith to us. I know that he prayed when he was at MD Anderson - we are confident that while a frightened young man dealing with a rare brain tumor, complicated by high medications, well, God understands and is not upset by one of His children having fear and doubts. Several people we know have come to Christ through Jon's example since his death - so if a tree is judged by its fruit...
Yes, Jon was a wonderful child of God who appreciated CS Lewis for his early doubts and struggles.
Thanks for the chance to share this with you.

      Steve,

Thank you so much for joining and coming by to say hi. I'm so glad you did.

I think you are right, both about your son, and God's incredible grace and compassion. We have a savior that can truly sympathize with us in every way. Your post shows a lot of strength that I don't think I would be able to have.

No wonder Jon is such a great guy, he has a great dad.
It's great to see Jonathan's Dad here and I think $Cir for his reminder. One help to having great sons is to have great Dads behind them. Of course, it's possible to have a great son without a great Dad, but for those of us here who plan on being Dads someday, we need to keep this in mind.
