Obama administration officials all but confirmed Trump's accusations, although they laughably claim that Obama had no knowledge of it.

As usual, the media is asking the wrong questions. We should be asking what Obama knew, and when did he know it?

What I find most hilarious are the people acting like this would somehow be out of character for Obama when he has a long history of using government agencies to target his political enemies.

Hey, if Obama did misdeeds, I'm all for nailing him to the wall. Trump needs to back up his words and get cracking on proving Obama's guilt. What does Trump have to lose if he happens to be wrong? His reputation? Pffft. Like that matters to a guy like Trump.

That cuts both ways. The Democrats have been leveling an awful lot of charges against Trump without bothering with corroborating evidence to support the allegations. We've returned to the era of where it's the seriousness of the charges that counts not whether there is anything to verify them.

Does not address the issue of the thread.

Interestingly, NBC is claiming that the Obama Administration getting a warrant to monitor Trump and/or associates by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) during last year's election is proof that the Trump campaign was colluding with the Russians.

The FBI was investigating the Trump campaign's collusion with the Russians for obvious reason. It was revealed months ago that they applied to the FISA court for a warrant to bug Trump tower, and it was turned down. While most people think Trump is just insane and stupid and making stuff up with his claims he was bugged because he read a lying Breitbart article about it. Even his own aides have no clue where he got his bizarre claims from and so aren't defending Trump on this.

It's possible he's been briefed as President to the effect that he was bugged and if that's true it means the FBI was able to demonstrate probable cause to the FISA court and so they did eventually issue a warrant to bug him, which means the FBI had even more (!) evidence about Trump's Russia links at that time than has yet become public, which looks very bad for Trump. Obviously Obama personally had nothing to do with the bugging as the president doesn't have the ability to order such things (which someone should have mentioned to Trump himself!) and the FBI is independent, so anyone frothing at the mouth about "Obama did it" simply doesn't understand how the government works.

Sure 'nuff. But it all comes down to who's in charge of doing the investigating. There are enough Republicans who want to look into the silly Russia thing to get an investigation going. Conspiracy theories don't really get fun until the official investigations start.

And you never know. Every once in a long while, a conspiracy theory turns out to be true.

Legally speaking, you're right, but do you really think that would have stopped someone like Obama who showed an almost complete disregard for the law while he was in office? I could picture this conversation taking place:

"Now I can't legally order you to wiretap Mr. Trump's communications, but... I think we understand each other."
                            "Yes, sir, Mr. President. "

It certainly wouldn't be the first time Obama weaponized government agencies to go after his political enemies.

Newly uncovered court documents reveal the Justice Department seized records of several Fox News phone lines as part of a leak investigation -- even listing a number that, according to one source, matches the home phone number of a reporter's parents.

Former CBS-TV anchor Sharyl Attkisson has revealed in a YouTube video and leak to the New York Post more details of how government agents under the Obama administration have wiretapped journalists.

The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press in what the news cooperative's top executive called a 'massive and unprecedented intrusion' into how news organizations gather the news.
