Are there other commandments that God "gave" Joseph that result in the "destruction" of the otherwise faithful believer?

So answer this, OC.... do you honestly believe God would DESTROY Emma, an otherwise faithful follower, because she didn't go along with Smith's "prophesy" about plural marriage? Pretty simple question, and you have NEVER found an argument you didn't have an answer for.

Oh WAIT... did I come up with a phony prophecy trying to make my wife agree to something she didn't want to agree to? Did i threaten my wife with DESTRUCTION if she didn't comply?

How bout dropping the "careful with your answer", OC -- you're gonna do what you're gonna do, right?

SO FAR, I conclude that you're in a pretty difficult position defending Smith's "prophecy" as real, but I'm still waiting.

Kinda like when Jonah was almost destroyed in the storm, or when he was swallowed by a large fish for not complying with something God wanted him to do. Or when Nineveh was almost destroyed. Or so many of the peoples and cities that were almost destroyed unless they repented and obeyed God's instructions. Hmmm....nothing new here. Just another dead ended rabbit trail. Try to find something that isn't already precedented in the Bible of which to accuse the Prophet Joseph Smith.

And if you want to get more personal, let's look at how Abraham was willing to have Sarah not only destroyed in the flesh and telling her to lie so that powerful men would take her to wife in order to save his own butt; in accordance with their own religious beliefs, it would have destroyed her soul and the souls of the men Abraham gave her to. Yep another dead ended rabbit trail. Try to find something that isn't already precedented in the Bible of which to accuse the Prophet Joseph Smith.

I think it is sad how you puff yourself up and strutt around proclaiming that God has told you Joseph Smith is not a Prophet; kinda like when the Jews killed God's OT Prophets; and worse, when they refused to accept Jesus as their Savior because they didn't recognize Him. Or how the religious leaders (you know, the "preachers" of ancient days) had Jesus killed. Again, try to find something that isn't already precedented in the Bible of which to accuse the Prophet Joseph Smith.

In the absence of any evidence you can produce which sets the standards of judgment you use for or against Joseph Smith which is NOT similarly available for the OT Prophets, you really are basing your arguments on vapor. Indeed, the more you protest and pontificate; the more you try to find something wrong with Joseph Smith in order to disqualify him as a Prophet of God, the more you are showing how his life is in keeping with Prophets of old.

To use a teaching of our Beloved Redeemer and Savior, I say to you CP, Satan, get thee behind me.

So, you actually think this is akin to Smith threatening his beloved wife with destruction for simply not believing his prophecy? REALLY?

And if you want to get more personal, let's look at how Abraham was willing to have Sarah not only destroyed in the flesh and telling her to lie so that powerful men would take her to wife in order to save his own butt; in accordance with their own religious beliefs, it would have destroyed her soul and the souls of the men Abraham gave her to. So, Abraham did something despicable, in your eyes, so it's OK for Smith to "one up" him on that?

      I think it is sad how you puff yourself up and strutt around proclaiming that God has told you Joseph Smith is not a Prophet;
So, when you proclaim Smith IS a prophet, do you strutt [sic] ? Or are you just calmly sitting at your keyboard.

kinda like when the Jews killed God's OT Prophets; and worse, when they refused to accept Jesus as their Savior because they didn't recognize Him. Or how the religious leaders (you know, the "preachers" of ancient days) had Jesus killed. So, the fact that the Holy Spirit has clearly confirmed to me, quite calmly and with great assurance, that Smith is a false prophet -- somehow that makes me an OT Prophet killer?

You are getting nuttier all the time, Jo.

HEY WAIT.. you want EVIDENCE??? BUT JO -- I am using the EXACT SAME standard YOU are using -- I prayed, and the Holy Spirit gave me a witness that Smith is a false prophet. Now you're wanting EVIDENCE? (really spooky music here)

To use a teaching of our Beloved Redeemer and Savior, I say to you CP, Satan, get thee behind me.

      jo
More name calling! Good, Jo! That appears to be all ya got.

Now, in ANY of the examples you give, does a "man of God" make a prophecy against his own wife threatening her with destruction, when she is otherwise faithful, apparently, in all other areas?

HOW, exactly, does that compare with the examples you gave? OH, yeah.. you started with "kinda".

      You're losing it, Jo.

Re: Joseph Smith dishonors his wife, Emma.

In another thread, OC seems to continue to defend Smith's public "threatening" of his wife. Now, before somebody pitches a fit and falsely accuses me of misquoting, I'm giving the link to the thread, and some direct quotes.

MAYBE we're coming to an understanding here. MAYBE there was something that Emma was PUBLICLY doing, for which she needed a very stern (threatened with destruction) "warning" (as the Mormons call it) to "continue being faithful" (as OC put it).

      So, maybe I'm missing something....

What, exactly, was the "sin" of Emma that required this "public" "threatening"?

I answered these comments in the other thread, but I thought, since the main FOCUS of this thread is my allegation that Smith dishonored his wife, I'm allowing for the possibility that MAYBE Emma "deserved" the public rebuke.

Re: Joseph Smith dishonors his wife, Emma.

Jo do you really believe that Joseph taking the wives of his devoted male followers while they were sent out on mission trips is something God commanded Joseph to do?

And while I'm asking, do you believe God commanded Joseph Smith to marry Nancy Rigdon? Yes or no?

I would appreciate a simple yes or no answer.

      Thanks,

      Roger

None that I know of. Just strong counsel for her own safety. Kind of like Peter being warned about denying the Savior before he actually did.
