Re: What's up with our spirit?
Hello FEB -
Our Spirit is Eternal, but in order for 'us' as personalities to find the Eternal Life already known by our Spirit, our Spirit must be 'born again' - born into our flesh so to speak. So that we become temples manifesting our Spirit in full.
In all of us our Spirit exists as a spark or seed, but without purification, being perfected, made whole, healed, completed, we cannot be temples for our Spirit.
And we can only know EternalLlife as temples of our Spirit. Revelation 3:12 This is the truth we find, that will make us free - who we really are!
Often the phrase born again is used rather superficially, but the Biblical meaning is an actual experience of spiritual birth that is preceded by much suffering, as told to us in Revelation 12.
If our Spirit is not born in us, then we will eventually return to dust - even spiritual dust after our soul spends a period of time in the lower heavens. Our Spirit then will invoke the birth of another personality to try again to be born into it.
Shalom!

That is too much stretch of imagination.
Vivian, I'll honestly tell you that I do not really believe you. You are simply correlating the words of the Scriptures and that those ideas you speak of cannot be tuned in reality. In all of us our Spirit exists as a spark or seed, but without purification, being perfected, made whole, healed, completed, we cannot be temples for our Spirit.

I understand revelation 3:12, surely not the way you show it. We will surely have a lot of differences.
Of a truth, none can understand mysteries of God except he/she be sent; this is what the Scriptures says. Did God sent you to explain these things?
I am not intending to offend, i am just being honest. I am sure you understand why I should tell you these things.
Peace,

Re: What's up with our spirit?
Greetings FEB-
You did not offend. I understand why you ask this. I was a bit out there with that post, recognizing after I typed the words that they probably would not resonate with the posters on Tweb.
Among those I walk with, there is a saying. We speak mysteries only to those who already know them. Meaning mysteries are learned experientially, in fact any understanding of God is learned experientially. We might claim that our understanding comes from reasoning or exegesis of scripture, but we can only reason or exegete that which we already know - that which concurs with our own inner and outer experiencing.
In other words, we only know what we know, or we can only see in scripture that which we have learned or know in our actual experiencing.
So no offense, and as you can surmise, I have not been sent by God to teach these things! I am here to join in whatever the Father is already doing. I am here for those in whom the Father is revealing His Mysteries.
Shalom!

Re: What's up with our spirit?
Vivian.
Just a comment or two. We have all been sent by God. But few will have the title. We all have a path but few speak for God. Those that do really have no life. I often wonder if those chosen to be prophets are given another chance without the destined path.
You are right that those who have not experienced the spirit are never going to have it explained to them. But I have to tell you that walking in the spirit is not an abandoning of this world. It is still living in this world but placing the world in proper context. The temporary existence of the flesh is a trap and a learning experience. We choose which it is. To those who have not made the trip then they can't see the two paths. They see one. Now there are many people who are religious because they know at some level what the truth is but they haven't made the leap of faith that is required to walk in the spirit.

Re: What's up with our spirit?
Good evening franktalk!
Living, truly living, as sons of God is completely foreign to us!
Trying to explain what walking in the Spirit, what living in the Spirit is, for those who do not know is like speaking another language.
In my tradition, we say to be passersby, meaning do not cling to this world or the things of this world, but walk through this world, for God.
This is where our bliss and joy reside, living in the moment, serving God in the moment, being open to receiving from the Holy Spirit, in the moment. Not clinging to the past, or to the future, not worrying or holding any grudges or fears, never coveting, never feeling ourselves lacking anything and so we have to get for ourselves!
Never worrying about our clothes or our food, or what others think of us, or anything other than just being and loving and enjoying - all in service to our God. It is a completely foreign concept.
Where we are accustomed to walking around feeling shameful, guilty, feeling like we lack or need something we do not have. Being concerned about what others say to us, about us, what others even think about us.
This is the way of the beast.
When we are born again we experience the realization that the Kingdom is ours, all that our creator has created belongs to us, for our own pleasure, in service to Him. And so there is no fear, or worry, or feeling of lack or need. There is only love.
People claim they are born again, yet they do not know their own Spirit! They do not know themselves as sons of God, but as lonely, individuals lost in darkness having to struggle and take care of themselves, filled with worry, fear, regret, hostility, struggle.
If we are sons of God, why should we care if our body gets ill, or even dies? If we are sons of God, why would we ever doubt that anything that we need will not be provided for us, to us?
If we are heirs to the Kingdom, the Kingdom is ours, and we are richer beyond all comprehension! All that that belongs to our Father, belongs to us as well.
It is not realizing ourselves as sons of God, realizing, meaning knowing, being aware of ourselves as Spirits, that causes us to sin.
Shalom!

Re: What's up with our spirit?
Viv,
Good post. We can not die until God wants us to. And when He does want us to there is no stopping it. So why worry about death. Do we really want to know when we are going to die? I think not.
Walking in the spirit comes from knowing. It does not come from a world view or a book. Anyone can read data but truth taken to the heart is rare. We are so clouded over by this world we don't know how to see truth. This world is relativistic and truth is like a razor blade edge. The world is set up to give us many wants and desires and demands our time. The world organizes our priorities and keeps us so busy we have no time to seek another. To walk in the spirit is to see what the world is and to sidestep it's confusion and priorities. To walk in the spirit is to love God and to love all of God's creation. Most of all each human. To see the hidden spirit and see past the behavior of each individual. The path to walking in the spirit starts with truly forgiving others. Most can't do this.
