Thyroid problems
before having thyroid problems, I had no idea how much the thyroid not working properly affects the body.
Going through all this business of trying to get right dosages of meds, the right meds etc has shown me how a small butterfly shaped thing in your neck can effect your whole body.
not just weight but emotions, eating, energy, you name it, it is affected.
I am hypothyroid.
these were MY symptoms ....
coldness (feeling more cold than other people around me)
tiredness and lethargy (I wasn't doing anything but sitting in bed on my laptop and sleeping basicly)
depression (I was on antidepressants for 2 years or more)
Weakness (doing things was an effort)
Weight gain and increased difficulty losing weight (I was eating less than people around me yet still putting on weight and when on a diet and excercise program wasnt losing as much as I should have been)
Hair loss when I showered I would have quite a few hairs come out...more than your usual...they were growing back but this caused my hair to be thinner when years ago hairdressers commented on my thick hair)
vagueness/not remembering (my ex could ask me to get him something down town when I was going and I would completely forget then he would accuse me of not getting it on purpose. where years earlier I could remember without a problem...even now I am remembering things better and my meds are not right yet)
if you are having these symptoms even just a few look up thyroid symptoms...or if you are having the reverse of these symptoms also look it up...you could be suffering a thyroid condition and going through stuff you don't need to be.
I know if I had just left this go and the dr hadn't discovered it I couldn't have coped, I was turning into a mess.
just one more thing if you are hypothyroid don't take soy this blocks the absorption of the hormones the thyroid needs....however if you are hyper maybe you could try soy LOLI've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.
