There's a good reason not to be a donor: you don't want some psycho quack decide to off you because he thinks your organs would be better used in someone else.

On the contrary, we work with the system we have to get the best results possible, not wash our hands of it and deny reasonable developments on the grounds that some bad actors will try and pervert what we have done.

I prefer to oppose almost everything the government tries to do since it will lead to a slippery slope. Has in the past.

As far as I can tell it's still a choice. The shift is just from an opt-in, to an opt-out program. This makes sense if most people want to donate their organs, but never sign up for it for various reasons.

Whether one considers this kind of 'nudging' from the government good or bad is a different discussion. It has its own problems, though I don't consider it unethical by itself.
