Re: Nancy Pelosi....
What's the problem ? John's first chapter.
Sounds like she is talking about that and goes farther, speaking of her own Christian faith in Jesus Christ, and in a way that is understandable to me as a Christian.

In my opinion, the single most telling piece of evidence that shows how poorly we're manifesting our call to care for animals is the recent creation of factory farms. Over the last century we have, to a large degree, reduced farm animals to commercialized commodities whose only value is found in how efficiently we can produce and slaughter them for profit. Consequently, more than 26 billion animals each year are forced to live in miserable, overcrowded warehouses, where there is absolutely nothing natural about their existence and where they are subjected to barbaric, painful, industrial procedures.
This is a far cry from what God meant when he told us to exercise "dominion." (Pastor Greg Boyd.)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was aborted and thrown away as medical waste.

"I hate Manwe's posts because I hate babies and America." --Augustine2004, August 6, 2011
Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'
The Words of Húrin and Morgoth, "The Children of Húrin" by J.R.R. Tolkien

Re: Nancy Pelosi....
What is so understandable? She said a few buzzwords and then gloated over them like a political vulture. She's a vile woman, and that she attempted to barf out the basics of the faith by saying "word" over and over and mentioning the "gospels" is certainly surprising. And she never spoke of her Christian faith in Jesus Christ. She managed a whole little speech without mentioning anything like that.
But I'm glad that spoke to you.

Re: Nancy Pelosi....
No, that isn't so. She did more than you say. I'm not judging her sincerity of faith (how can I ?) or this or that of her morality; only what the woman actually said...in words. The dialogue is there; you provided it, Philosophickle. Because you did, other people coming to this thread will make up their own minds about what they hear her saying there. The audio is clear.

Actions speak louder than words...that is all.

Re: Nancy Pelosi....
She's pro gay marriage (I add this to what I just posted about abortion). Abortion/infanticide is a 'variant' of sorts, though very real and deadly serious a sin, of the 10 Commandments command of "Thou Shalt Not Kill (Murder)."
Understand that I'm not a fan of Pelosi, No; but I am 'a fan' of being simply fair, at least, when it comes to your OP, Philosophicke.
Uugh, this is alot of trouble, but since you have said sarcastically to me that her 1: 17 minute speech to a Catholic group (she is Catholic) should not have "spoken to me" for it isn't understandable, let me give you a rundown on what she actually said:
She does stumble a little verbally, but not very much. Let's see the points::
0: 21 - "The Word is everything...says it all for us."
0: 26 - "We all know the Biblical..gospel reference for The Word."
0: 40 - "[The Word] ought give voice to public policy in keeping with the values of.. The Word."
FAULT HER HERE ON ABORTION; I AGREE.
1: 00 - Pelosi essentially quotes John 1: 14a. Here she establishes her claimed faith in Jesus' incarnation and deity. Here is Who The Word is to her. It's Jesus Christ and no One else. So let's be accurate about that; she DID speak of her Christian faith. You were mistaken about that, Philosophicke.
1: 06 - ref. to "our (her) faith....." & "The Word,' Jesus, 'will come again."
1:11 - "[We must be] prepared to answer [to God]..for how we have measured up."
(The dialogue is then cut away from by the YouTuber who submitted it.)

Re: Nancy Pelosi....
And, of course, you do realize that this word/concept "sin" is a Biblical one and so my suggestion that abortion/infanticide fits the Biblical definition of sin is not ridiculous. You still remember where you have come back to and are in, right ? ...Christian owned and operated website, so do not ever be surprised at the notion here that abortion is considered a sin.
