Nursing Pay
After working in the healthcare field, I have come to realize that my pay of under $10/hr seems almost offensive considering I help take care of residents/patients. If I make a mistake, I could easily cause an infection leading to anything from illness to death. I am a certified nursing assistant. Anyone work in this field, too? I often tell my bosses that the neighborhood Burger king pays higher wages and they are paid to make you fat.

Re: Nursing Pay
It is outrageously low; the wage that CNAs and other such assisiting med. techs typically make. My wife worked as one before she became a nurse. It's hard work. It can be "dirty" work, so to speak. It's important work...that must be done carefully and conscientiously.
I'm with you; $ 10 an hour, if in a hospital, is surely underpayment. And just about any nursing home I can imagine could afford, without hardship to the bottom line, to pay CNAs more than $ 10/hr., and so they ought to. Why ?
It's because patients and residents of these healthcaring facilties are most often attended ongoingly and routinely by the MTs (more than the supervising nurses). They really depend on them alot.

In my opinion, the single most telling piece of evidence that shows how poorly we're manifesting our call to care for animals is the recent creation of factory farms. Over the last century we have, to a large degree, reduced farm animals to commercialized commodities whose only value is found in how efficiently we can produce and slaughter them for profit. Consequently, more than 26 billion animals each year are forced to live in miserable, overcrowded warehouses, where there is absolutely nothing natural about their existence and where they are subjected to barbaric, painful, industrial procedures.
This is a far cry from what God meant when he told us to exercise "dominion." (Pastor Greg Boyd.)
