      I've given up.
Every here and again I get a bit of hope and each time it gets squashed a little bit more thoroughly.

So yeah... anyone wanna play checkers?
Actually YOU put Trump in the White House. He wouldn't have gotten 1% of the vote if it wasn't for the widespread spiritual and cultural devastation caused by progressive policies. There's no "this country" left with your immigration policies, your "allies" are worthless and even more suicidal than you are and democracy is a sick joke that I hope nobody ever thinks about repeating when the current order collapses. - Darth_Executor striking a conciliatory note in Civics 101

More interesting, was that the entire set of congressmen and senators briefed by Comey came out looking shell-shocked and like their favorite dogs had died. Reporters who have followed politics for years were comparing the look on Feinstein's face to the time when she'd had to announce the deaths of Moscone and Milk.
What makes you think that "Fay Murphy" (aka murfdawgie on Twitter) is a reporter who has been following politics for years?

The hypothesis I've seen floated to explain this is that they were told that Russia basically caught America with its trousers down and dictated the outcome of the election in order to install its puppet, and that the FBI is going to try and take down Trump for his Russia connections and that this is going to come dangerously close to destroying the American government and causing a constitutional crisis because the FBI is an agency under Trump's control and the President is afforded certain legal immunities.
I'm certainly no fan of Trump, but this all seems laughably speculative.

Don't worry, folks, the people assuring us that Trump will be impeached any day now for conspiring with the Russians are the same ones who assured us that he'd never win the election!

I'm not saying you're wrong; I'm only saying the two claims appear to be at odds.

I'm sure a polarization is occurring. The center has failed completely and younger generations are looking for something else. So socialism is probably on the rise. OTOH, so is white supremacism and nazi larping. The beginning of this century is starting to look a lot like the beginning of the last one.

Every war after that will be with rocks and sticks which is why those should be Episode 3, 4, 5, 6.

Every century need a big war or two to define it.

Perhaps most revealing of all are the Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee — charged with investigating these matters — who recently told BuzzFeed how petrified they are of what the Democratic base will do if they do not find evidence of collusion, as they now suspect will likely be the case. “There’s a tangible frustration over what one official called ‘wildly inflated’ expectations surrounding the panel’s fledgling investigation,” BuzzFeed’s Ali Watkins wrote.

Moreover, “several committee sources grudgingly say, it feels as though the investigation will be seen as a sham if the Senate doesn’t find a silver bullet connecting Trump and Russian intelligence operatives.” One member told Watkins: “I don’t think the conclusions are going to meet people’s expectations.”
The Democrat plan to distract from their cheating in the primary looks well set to blow up in their faces, as predicted. And crazies like Starlight helped them right along.

If he was a Republican this would be interesting but being a member of the party that has daily been screeching for Trump to be impeached even before he was inaugurated... not so much.
