I was driving to meet my mother in rural North Carolina, as my daughter had been at the beach with my extended family. Recently, some friends and I had been in a discussion about needing a neon sign from God sometimes regarding whether or not He was still there for us. Of course we knew He was in our head, but during trials and tribulations, in our hearts, it is difficult when God is silent, or so we believe He is. The key word is believing he is. A little thought given on the subject reveals He is never silent. God is always answering us and showing signs of His majesty, we just have to know where to look.
My husband and I began to discuss tent revivals, the charismatic movement, and somehow from there we began to discuss my feelings on the homosexual political movement. I told him, It would not bother me so much if the did not use a rainbow as their sign. And a pit of Anger just welled up within me, so much I could not explain it. I told my husband of a campus mission some friends had started when I was in high school that I was a part of, and we had held a tent revival on school grounds. As we were praying for the Holy Spirit to use this however he wanted a massive rainbow appeared over the tent without a cloud in the Sky. It took six pictures to get the full panorama of the tent and rainbow. As I relayed this story, my anger turned to tears. I realized that the whole taking of the rainbow and using it for perverse anti biblical ideas of sexuality was a mockery of one of the Lord's signature promises.
After the flood of Noah, and that Storm, The Lord had given the rainbow to show that He was indeed present, and wouldn't send this kind of flood (whatever your interpretation may be) again.
As I was driving along the rural roads what should I see after these severe storms but a rainbow. This meteorological phenomona has two things, first it is a reflection a prism of the suns light off rain drops, but second it is a reminder of the majesty and greatness of the Lord after weathering a storm. He is saying "look I am still here"
"The Heavens Proclaim the Glory of the Lord" This is our neon sign
