  • Catholic Archdiocese of Mexico: Mexicans who work on Trump's wall are traitors

    https://ca.news.yahoo.com/mexicans-h...--finance.html

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexicans who help build U.S. President Donald Trump's planned border wall would be acting immorally and should be deemed traitors, the Catholic Archdiocese of Mexico said on Sunday, turning up the heat on a simmering dispute over the project.

In a provocative editorial, the country's biggest Archdiocese sought to increase pressure on the government to take a tougher line on companies aiming to profit from the wall, which has strained relations between Trump and the Mexican government.

"Any company intending to invest in the wall of the fanatic Trump would be immoral, but above all, its shareholders and owners should be considered traitors to the homeland," said the editorial in Desde la fe, the Archdiocese's weekly publication.
Strange, the Catholic Church seems to have an entirely different policy with regards to national loyalty for Mexicans compared to Americans. Mexicans are free to violate American sovereignity at will while the Pope will slander anyone like Trump who wants to put an end to it. I seem to remember this kind of shenanigans leading to considerable political support for Luther and the Reformation. Maybe Pope Poz is pushing for an encore?

Pope Leo X: Whoops, looks like I caused another permanent schism.
Pope Poz I: Oh yeah? Hold my non-alcoholic grape juice and watch this.
"As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths." Isaiah 3:12

Christians are to be primarily loyal to God, not to any nation. There is nothing wrong with pursuing policies in one's nation's good so long as this serves humanity as a whole. The idea of such work being immoral simply because it does a disservice to Mexico's national interest makes no sense from a Christian perspective.
"I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

Actually YOU put Trump in the White House. He wouldn't have gotten 1% of the vote if it wasn't for the widespread spiritual and cultural devastation caused by progressive policies. There's no "this country" left with your immigration policies, your "allies" are worthless and even more suicidal than you are and democracy is a sick joke that I hope nobody ever thinks about repeating when the current order collapses. - Darth_Executor striking a conciliatory note in Civics 101

There is nothing inherently wrong with pursuing national interest even if it does not serve humanity as a whole. Tikkun Olam isn't even really Jewish, let alone Christian.

How does reducing illegal immigrants from Mexico to the US serve Mexico's national interest?
Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Mexico gets to dump its poor on the US and receives money back from illegal workers. Of course, it's arguable that this is truly beneficial for them given that it also allows cartels to operate with relative impunity and lets them kick the can down the road instead of improving the lives of their citizens.
