My first cell shading attempt.
How does it look? This is intended as a mug design for my Zazzle store.

"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Re: My first cell shading attempt.
Honest opinion? The quote is stupid (given the source not sure that can be helped) and the colors are way too bright. Plus, he kinda looks like a 50 year old grandmother whose bingo play sheet has yet to arrive.

I know the color problem.
Though, I doubt, given what you just said, that I can count on much further objective helpful advice.Dropping a few Eschatology Bombs, or "Let's think before we endorse another way."

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

I think the highlights are well done, and the colors evoke shading, instead of a fellow who wore a hockey goalie mask to the beach.

Re: My first cell shading attempt.
I am thinking about the next theologian I should quote and cell shade. Any suggestions?

Re: My first cell shading attempt.
hehe well put, but much of what inspires my zazzle store are Church history folks between the apostolic era and today. "Christian" stores have enough Bible verses on their stuff, do they not?
Here's a few off the top of my head

Awww. I was hoping for a picture of Paul holding a pair of shears, with the quote: "As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves. Galatians 5:12"

PLAN B - St. Polycarp, the most Chuck Norrisy martyr in history, with this quote that he gave before being burned: "Eighty and six years I have served Christ and He has done me nothing but good; how then could I curse Him, my Lord and Savior?"

Hmmm Polycarp might do. That's a good quote.
