Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing Jehovah-Jireh...
A Faith Booster...
Shalom!
“I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word. I long for the Lord more than sentries long for the dawn, yes, more than sentries long for the dawn.” (Psalm 130:5–6, NLT)
Yesterday while driving from Port Huron, Michigan to Louisville, Kentucky as we neared Dayton, Ohio we drove into heavy rain and visibility became increasingly difficult. There were times when the rain blowing off the semi-trucks reduced visibility to zero. Because the traffic was heavy, moving at nearly 70 miles per hour slowing down was not an option so Patti and I prayed our way from Dayton to Cincinnati (where the rain cleared). This morning during my private time with God’s Word (the bible) the Holy Spirit opened up this “Faith Booster” for me. “We counted on the Lord; yes, We counted on him. We put my hope in his word. We long for the Lord more than the earth longs for the sun, yes, more than earth longs for the sun.”
We all need Faith Boosters but now in retrospect I understand not God’s Word is only part of the Faith Booster it is actually the driving nearly blind down the highway of life depending on the Holy Spirit to navigate our lives from the storm into the sun. This morning I prayed, “God, isn’t there an easier way to boost our faith rather than going blindly though storms of varying intensity?” Minutes later I felt God saying one word, “NO!” And so Psalm 130:5–6 becomes a permanent member of my Faith Booster Reserves, subject to recall when I find myself moving into another blinding storm.
“Now I move through my life, into the storms that lie ahead, and when I feel all the strife, I pray the LORD to guide my life!” (I am not much of a poet but hopefully the message will come through loud and clear!)
“Faith isn’t hoping for the best life has to offer, Faith is anchoring oneself to the Best God has to offer!”
Grace and PEACE,
Gary
