Demonic activity
I'm writing a research paper on "How spiritual forces still interact with the world today."
I believe that demon activity is just as real today as it was when Jesus cast the evil spirits into the pigs. But not many Christians (in my experience, at least) really live as though this is true.
I also know that the Devil likes it that way. Not many would believe his lies if they recognized them as Satan's poisonous arrows. He wants to hide his activity as much as possible.
I cannot remember ever experiencing physically real demonic activity. Certainly any Christian can agree that the demon attacks psychologically. But for some--Wiccans, for example--the interaction is more quantifiable. If Christians were aware of this, wouldn't it revolutionize many of their spiritual perspectives?
I've tried to find some sources but seem to be coming up empty-handed. Maybe Satan wants it that way (ha ha). But I didn't want to give up and change my research paper topic. At least not until I've looked harder.
So my question is: Where should I look? Do you know of any credible books or other sources on the topic?

Re: Demonic activity
the real problem with this is that it’s all 100% non-physical which is where many people draw the line at non-existent as well. it’s easier to believe someone is insane than someone is being haunted and because you can't prove that a ghost exists as easily as you can prove your car exists, it’s a difficult topic to study. because there is no money in it, no one has bothered to (outside of sheer curiosity and maybe wiccans and the like) studied the super natural. if you need a book to help guide you, then i don’t know of any, however exorcisms are carried out and those who do this kind of work may know of something. other than that, there are instruments that are said to be able to indirectly detect apparitions. maybe there is a book on that?

All that is gold does not glitter,
not all those who wander are lost;
the old that is strong does not wither,
deep roots are not reached by the frost.
just because you can't see him, doesn't mean he isn't there!
even steel must be put to the flame, else it will remain weak and easily removed.
i find it amazing that a person who requests another to demonstrate that they are not terrorists by some small action like making the claim they are not terrorists, becomes terrorized himself, and not by the terrorists or even the proposed terrorists; but by those who seek tolerance and understanding. i believe that fits the definition of ironic doesn't it?

For a counter-view of the common idea that Satan is behind every negative thought and under every rock, The Devil Did Not Make Me Do It by Paul Miller. It's important to interact with opposing ideas.

Thanks, odis
The second and third greatest tricks of Satan is to convince Christians they can't do anything about him, (they are too weak) and don't have to do anything about him (It isn't important).Last edited by TyRockwell; September 6th 2010 at 06:53 PM.

Re: Demonic activity
The best source I have found is:
The Handbook for Spiritual Warfare
by Dr. Ed Murphy
I have had a couple run ins with the dark side. I know people that have cast out demons. I have done it for myself but not for others.

Re: Demonic activity
Well, I have suffered what I believe to be "demonic attacks". I also think the beings encountered by people such as Muhammad, Joseph Smith et al. were demons (providing the encounters were not just made up)

Re: Demonic activity
I have never been possessed but we all have demons of this world around us. Most casting away is done by people coming to Christ and they are not aware of the demons been cast away. Once you take the Holy Ghost in you it makes a barrier to demonic influence. Then once you sin the barrier is removed and once again the small evil voices can come back. In order to remain clean one must constantly recharge and forgive, then ask for forgiveness.
Demons gain access to you through channels of permission. This can be done by a family member doing something they should not. This can be done by attending a pagan rite. This can be done by placing an idol in your home. All of these can be fixed.
Sparko you need to leave this subject alone.
