What inerrancy seems to mean, is that
- there can be the appearance of contradiction, but not the reality of it;
- manuscripts and editions of the Biblical texts can contain error, but the text as inspired will not;
- perfect preservation of the text is not necessary;
- the books can be human in every conceivable way, so they will use literary genres, tropes and rhetorical figures, but they will not assert as true what is not true;
- the books sometimes describe things, not according to their constitution, but according to appearances;
- the books can contain the record of error, but not the assertion of it as true;
- the category of error includes misstatements of all kinds: moral, theological, doctrinal, geographical, historical, scientific, real (rather than purely verbal) contradictions between texts, real contradictions between the Bible and things outside the Bible;
- the meaning that is inerrant, is not any meaning that can be derived from the text, but that meaning alone that can be ascertained as having been intended by the human secondary author working under the influence of God the Primary Author of Scripture. Determining what meaning is intended to be asserted by the authors of the Bible is therefore a work of exegesis, philosophy, linguistics, historical study and theology, and is of its nature undertaken in and for the Church at large.
And that is scratching the surface.Last edited by Rushing Jaws; 07-03-2018, 11:43 PM.

And that is scratching the surface.. . . the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; . . . -- Romans 1:16 KJV
. . . that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: . . . -- 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 KJV
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: . . . -- 1 John 5:1 KJV

37818 writing "Pick one contradiction. Show that it cannot be a matter of misinterpretation. Show that it is not caused by a common or an uncommon mistranslation. Show that it cannot be do to a copyist mistake or deliberate change to the text. Then you actually found one" is easily found through the Bible. For example, 1 Timothy 6:16 says "no one has seen God nor can see him" ;however, in Job 42:5 Job said to God "my eyes have seen you"

Still unwilling to deal with the huge log in the eye of Islam before casting aspirations elsewhere I see.
I'm always still in trouble again
"You're by far the worst poster on TWeb" and "TWeb's biggest liar" --starlight (the guy who says Stalin was a right-winger)
"Overall I would rate the withdrawal from Afghanistan as by far the best thing Biden's done" --Starlight
"Of course, human life begins at fertilization that’s not the argument." --Tassman

I am still waiting on some to explain how God cannot be seen in 1 Timothy 6:16 when Job said his eyes saw God in Job 42:5.

There, "contradiction" resolved. Didn't even need more than a sentence.
