Due to rampant stupidity by Skeptics, and time issues, I'm only going to be on TWeb in my own (tektonics.org) section from now on. Deal with it.

This new series was inspired by my encounter with a nut on Amazon who made this claim -- and then dodged and ducked when I asked him to back it up.

I have something that might be considered a fundy atheist legend. One guy told me that only "fundamentalist Christians" actually believe the Bible to be historical.

Depends on what he means by "historical". It's a collection of historical documents written about people and places known to have existed with some actions described held to have actually happened. It's not held as 100% accurate as defined by modern standards by neither believers (except for the fundiest of fundies) or unbelievers. I don't understand the "all or nothing" mindset people have about the Bible.

"I hate Manwe's posts because I hate babies and America." --Augustine2004, August 6, 2011
Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

CS Lewis, Mere ChristianityThere is no need to be worried by facetious people who try to make the Christian hope of 'Heaven' ridiculous by saying they do not want 'to spend eternity playing harps'. The answer to such people is that if they cannot understand books written for grown-ups, they should not talk about them.
Check out the blog: Per theologyWeb's overlords, I am required to warn you of profanity in some of the comment threads on my blog.

DQ of the month this time is on that old canard re Luke 14:26.
Also have to be amused by that idiot fundy atheist jbduke51 who says he used to be a church youth leader and that I'm where he used to be years ago.
Yeah right. I'm sure he was reading N. T. Wright back then too.

And truth be told, most Youth Leaders are not well read either way, being focused more on "walking" the youth in their way (In the sense of giving them emotional support).
Great video JP, as always, most informative. Although it never ceases to make me giggle how many times you actually manage to sneak in Annabelle in each one of your videos (The Mary one had me laughing, the amount of times she "hijacked" your vid on that one). For Love, why was I not surprised, hehe. No doubt you are a true lover JP.
