Thread: The TektonTV Thread

Re: The TektonTV Thread
Kind of ironic because a fellow who used to be here (now deceased) called FormerFundy, who was once a Bible prof at Bob Jones U, laid into me at one point for using Strong's a source.
But yes, that sort of appeal is just a step back to the very argument the transfer point refutes. No translation from one language to another ever can capture every single contextual nuance perfectly. That's especially the case because of high vs low context (as vid today will explain about) and the fact that while we have perhaps a million words in English, they had only a few thousand.

Just an update note. Got the high-low context item coming shortly.

Here's the one on high vs low context. The clown just gave me such a perfect inroad that I couldn't pass up using him as a bad guy here.

Re: The TektonTV Thread
And finally, a parody (temporary on TektonTV for now) dedicated to the clown's new partnership with Auntie "Here's a classic hymn I spread my frustrations all over" Diluvian.
As a note of interest....I was looking on her channel for anything else I could slap down, but she's overall about evolution and her childish parody hymns....save that I noted a vid she did on "thou shalt not kill"....in which she quite clearly refers to MY article on it....even though I don't see that she gave any credit.

You need to get ahold of someone with a country voice to sing the text to that parody song.

Re: The TektonTV Thread
Crazypills2 has sent me a message complaining about me pointing out the use of the word "of" in the last sentence of verse 14 in Deuteronomy 20. Apparently he doesn't think its usage is to separate humans from spoil and show possession.

Re: The TektonTV Thread
One guy(who I am now actually decent friends with) found it offensive that I would ask him to turn down his usage of f-bombs
He's a nice guy and all, but his usage of the word is in the area of "how many times can I fit this word into this sentence and it still makes sense".

Re: The TektonTV Thread
He rests far too much on what he thinks translators were thinking anyway. As I noted in the latest, it's odd how FAs give so much ready credence to translations, but get their shorts in a knot when you cite a commentary that offers more detail that also contradicts their reading and understanding of the translation.

Don't get me wrong, I have used them before but I do not find a need to lace them in into every sentence and make them part of my daily vocabulary. Then again, not too many people use words like 'cohort' either.
I guess the elegant language of writers like Jane Austin is going down the tubes.

Are there any skeptics on you tube who have half a brain? I wonder why these guys come at you with such ridiculous arguments. Excluding a comment thread at freethoughtblogs, I can't think of another setting where "let the Bible interpret itself" would be allowed to fly.
CS Lewis, Mere ChristianityThere is no need to be worried by facetious people who try to make the Christian hope of 'Heaven' ridiculous by saying they do not want 'to spend eternity playing harps'. The answer to such people is that if they cannot understand books written for grown-ups, they should not talk about them.
Check out the blog: Per theologyWeb's overlords, I am required to warn you of profanity in some of the comment threads on my blog.
