Re: Linux users please stand up...

I've used red hat, suse, mandrake, fedora, and a few others, but found ubuntu the most workable. Was running ubuntu studio for audio multitracking for a year or so also. Have to admit I have shifted to mac these days, however. Linux was a lot of fun, and didn't use the silly logic windows inflicts on people, but Mac stuff just seems to work better

I understand . . . I messed around with quite a few but found Ubuntu easiest to use and it always recognized my hardware!

I agree. Apple has done a great job with software. A couple of the office computers I manage are Mac's... I can't for life of me understand why they didn't include sftp support in OSX though. I'm running a Linux Server and file sharing would be so much easier and more secure via sftp than having to connect via Samba share.

Re: Linux users please stand up...

I'm typing this on Ubuntu 11.04. Just installed it on my mother-in-laws old Inspiron laptop. Aside form a lack of RAM in the laptop, it's running really well. Not sure about the new user interface introduced with this version; but it is friendly, nonetheless. I, too, am a Mac user which keeps me happy. Dabbling in Linux keeps my mind sharp. Working with Windows makes me appreciate the other two that much more ;)

Isn't that kind of a southern thing?

Not so many Debbie Anne's, and Christie Lew's in the NW or even in Arizona that I can tell.

I think it's kinda cool actually.

Maybe so -- my middle name is Sue also --- never thought about it being a Southern thing though.
My daddy left home when I was three, didn't leave much for ma and me, just this ol guitar and an empty bottle of booze....
