That's the modus operandi for having conned society into accepting other sexual practises.

I haven't seen the documentary in question, but I did see a British one that had all sorts.
A woman with a husband and a boyfriend...kids from both of them and the three of them shared a bed, both guys were straight. a guy with a wife and a girlfriend, again sharing a bed, the girls were bisexual, and the final one with a woman who decided she wanted the open relationship lifestyle, and a husband who tried to accept it and couldn't he eventually left her as he couldn't cope with it.

The last chap was painted as being a bit of a looser in the documentary for not being able to accept his wife's choices (I personally applauded him for the stand he finally did make).
