      Dodgy Kettle and/or Power Cable

      Something weird happened to me just now. I was making myself a cup of tea, and I filled up the electric kettle, connected it to the power cable and then turned it on. It boiled, and I then disconnected it from the power and was pouring it. Yet, as I was reconnecting it back the power cable, I noticed that it was switched off at the plug socket. What just happened here?

      I think I am going to get it checked out by the student accomodation people.

      By all means get it looked at, but...
      At any time, did you handle the plug? In other words, could you have unknowingly bumped the switch on or off? I remember doing that more than a few times when I lived in Scotland.
