Who is this artist?
Hint: since this is posted here, he was a politician.
You have ten guesses, and I will give you the answer in a few days. No chocolate to the winner(s).

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Re: Who is this artist?
I heard that Hitler could not manage to draw / paint the human form - his notable (to instructors) weak area. He could handle architecture and landscapes well enough, but not portraiture. Surely at least the well-rendered mother and child, bottom of post 2 must be someone else's (??)

In my opinion, the single most telling piece of evidence that shows how poorly we're manifesting our call to care for animals is the recent creation of factory farms. Over the last century we have, to a large degree, reduced farm animals to commercialized commodities whose only value is found in how efficiently we can produce and slaughter them for profit. Consequently, more than 26 billion animals each year are forced to live in miserable, overcrowded warehouses, where there is absolutely nothing natural about their existence and where they are subjected to barbaric, painful, industrial procedures.
This is a far cry from what God meant when he told us to exercise "dominion." (Pastor Greg Boyd.)

Without looking at other responses: Adolf Hitler.
What I think of the man is unprintable, but he was a pretty good artist."If you can ever make any major religion look absolutely ludicrous, chances are you haven't understood it"

It's by Hitler. The landscape and architecture is stuff good. The madonna and child is....well, he never would have gotten a Famous Artist's School scholarship on that one.

Re: Who is this artist?
Apparently not. It's his own. Surprisingly, Hitler was a devout Catholic. And when he gained power in 1933, there was a cosy relationship between his regime and the RCC.

Re: Who is this artist?
Hitler was NOT a Christian. He lied in order to gain the acceptance of a pre-dominantly Christian Germany. In reality, Hitler thought Christianity was the scum of the Earth. His secretary Martin Bormann recorded him as saying the following:
The best thing is to let Christianity die a natural death.... When understanding of the universe has become widespread... Christian doctrine will be convicted of absurdity.... Christianity has reached the peak of absurdity.... And that's why someday its structure will collapse.... ...the only way to get rid of Christianity is to allow it to die little by little.... Christianity the liar.... We'll see to it that the Churches cannot spread abroad teachings in conflict with the interests of the State (pg. 49-52).The reason why the ancient world was so pure, light and serene was that it knew nothing of the two great scourges: the pox and Christianity. From Hitler's Secret Conversations 1941-1944.I shall never come personally to terms with the Christian lie. Our epoch in the next 200 years will certainly see the end of the disease of Christianity. (pg. 278)

Re: Who is this artist?
I don't know about Secret Conversations. Just the title sounds fishy. From Hitler's own words:
In the ranks of the movement, the most devout Protestant could sit beside the most devout Catholic, without coming into the slightest conflict with his religious convictions. The mighty common struggle which both carried on against the destroyer of Aryan humanity had, on the contrary, taught them mutually to respect and esteem one another. And yet, in these very years, the movement carried on the bitterest fight against the [Catholic] Centre [party], though never on religious, but exclusively on national, racial, and economic-political grounds. The results spoke in our favor, just as today they testify against the know-it-alls.

Re: Who is this artist?
I didn't think Mary and Jesus on that one, so religion didn't come into my view. No, I thought it was just generic woman with her infant in a romantic and modern garden. I had heard that Hitler could not manage to paint people, and yet that one is not bad. Other than the woman's hand being too large, it isn't a bad effort at all.

You realize Mein Kampf was published to be widely read among the people of Germany? Do you think Hitler would go against hundreds of years of Christian heritage for all of Germany to read? Do you really believe politicians mean what they say when they speak to the public?

It is more likely that he put up with the religion for expedient reasons. Nonetheless the church did very little to oppose him, and in certain circumstances, enabled him to get to power.
Shame on you for thinking otherwise...Do you really believe politicians mean what they say when they speak to the public?

Exactly! He wasn't Christian at all. He used the church and the church whored itself out. Thank God people like Bonhoeffer and Mueller existed to say no, though it cost their lives. Did you mean to prove my point? It is more likely that he put up with the religion for expedient reasons. Nonetheless the church did very little to oppose him, and in certain circumstances, enabled him to get to power.
