I feel conservatives do more than their fair share of trying to control debate, and trying to destroy people that disagree with them.
I agree with this, especially since I'm right wing but not a conventional conservative. Nobody sticks a knife in your back more reliably than a self proclaimed "principled conservative".

The whole 'book smart' vs 'street smart' thing is something I've never really understood. There's really no such thing anymore, everyone is a book smart. That same boy that grows crops no doubt has also obtained knowledge of agriculture through books, along with the experience he gained in the field. I think what you're trying to say is that not everyone is interested in learning deeply about politics, economics, or human origins. Some people just want to be blue collar, learn their trade well, and be left alone. I'm fine with that as long as they appreciate that other people are more informed, and perhaps know better when political issues arise concerning those topics, and stay out of democratic votes if they are confused.
I don't agree that reading more necessarily makes you better informed or more capable of good decisions. Obv for a lot of technical fields SOME knowledge (usually gleamed the traditional way) is important but there are entire fields where social skills and instincts are paramout and you just can't learn those properly from a book. This is especially true when it comes to politics.

When emotionally outraged 3rd-wave Feminists making ridiculous statements are taken as being some sort of representatives of liberalism or progressivism.

I skip over feminist outrage articles whenever I see them. They are the crazy nutty 1% among liberals - they are to liberalism like what the Westbro Baptist Church is to US Christianity. And I get annoyed when I see the absurd emotional outrage that they peddle being used by conservatives to try and portray liberalism as emotion-based. And it usually goes hand-in-hand with the proverbial misquote of "if you're not a liberal when you're young you've got no heart and if you're not a conservative when you're old you've got no brain" (original comes from the French revolution: "If you don't support Democracy when you're young you've got no heart, but if you don't support Monarchy when you're old you've got no brain" which is not quite the same thing) in some sort of a weird and misguided effort to portray conservatives as smart and thoughtful and liberals as stupid and emotional.

It may depend on what you mean by feminist outrage articles but based on my general circle of acquaintances, more than 1% of liberals are on board with extreme feminist critiques of the mundane.

Starlight lives in a fantasy world so it's not surprising he hasn't realized that they are now in fact the bulk of liberals. 20 years from now he'll be treated like he treats conservatives.

It is because their statements are treated seriously at places like most universities that causes them to be regarded as representative.

Is this the part where I get to claim you're sexist?

I would agree with you that easily one of the most ridiculous elements of your camp are these new Feminists.
If I wanted to get quotes to discredit everything you believe I'd scan these gals for quotes because they're crazy.
Actually YOU put Trump in the White House. He wouldn't have gotten 1% of the vote if it wasn't for the widespread spiritual and cultural devastation caused by progressive policies. There's no "this country" left with your immigration policies, your "allies" are worthless and even more suicidal than you are and democracy is a sick joke that I hope nobody ever thinks about repeating when the current order collapses. - Darth_Executor striking a conciliatory note in Civics 101

                    I'd agree that is a silly mis-characterization.
It would be like a bank robber denying the existence of cops so he could rob a bank.

The smarter bank robber would accept the existence of cops and find a way to still rob the bank (1).

Me personally I'm content with just putting a small part of my salary in to low-risk index funds so I can retire after about 10-15 years or so.
