Faith shines in the Resurrection Light...
Shalom!
“One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and started out. As they sailed across, Jesus settled down for a nap. But soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in real danger. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm. Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?” (Luke 8:22–25, NLT)
There are those of us like Jesus and the disciples and we’ve found ourselves in stormy waters and just like the disciples we’ve struggled nearly to the point of exhaustion and now we need to do as the disciples did and call out to Jesus for help. If your like me you may have even found yourself floundering in multiple storms. In the scripture above Jesus asks a question, “Where is your faith?” While the bible does not give the disciples answer to his question, I would like to answer his question for you but for myself.
“Jesus, I have heard that God helps them who help themselves but its not working because my strength and will to struggle are gone and still no help and I because I can no longer help myself I put my fate in Your hands will You keep me from drowning in these storms of adversity?” Suddenly a soft piercing yet commanding voice echoes above the raging wind and crashing thunder, “Peace be still!” And deep inside peace replaces conflict as the storms subside. Then, “Gary, where is your faith?”
And suddenly the dark storm clouds are gone and in their place shines the Resurrection Light. “Lord, you are my faith and I have placed it in you. You are my source of faith. You are my source of peace. You are the strength of my faith. When I am with you I can rest in you. It is for your life I live.”
“Faith isn’t hoping for the best life has to offer, Faith is anchoring oneself to the Best God has to offer!”
Grace and PEACE,
Gary
