Netflix pretty much rocks
I just signed up for the free month trial of Netflix. They have a huge library of stuff that I can stream instantly on my TV through my Nintendo Wii. Now I can watch all those old movies that I see in the $5 bins at Wal-mart but am too cheap to purchase. My daughter no longer wants to watch the same Barney DVD over and over, thank goodness. Netflix has a bunch of kids stuff, like Dora, Kipper, Sid, etc.
All this for just $8 a month. You can't beat it. I got rid of cable and then satellite tv because I got sick of paying for an extremely overpriced service. Now I have more than enough tv shows and movies to watch whenever I want to - for a fraction of the price.
I promise I don't work for Netflix, it's just that it's such a great value.

its awesome.
We have it hooked up from our computer directly to our TV and can view a zillion shows anytime.

Oh, I didn't know you could hook it up directly.
Unfortunately I have a slow 768kbps DSL connection and so the picture quality is not so great, but it's still worth it.

It's also one of those where I wish I had gotten in on its stock back in '03 when it was under $10 a share Up over $180 now

Netflix is still rocking my socks off. I still can't believe the value. So cheap and I'm watching tons of awesome tv shows and movies.
I watched "The Bridge Over the River Kwai" and "The Thing" (1982) recently. My wife and I are currently going through all the seasons of The Office and iCarly (don't laugh).
I'm also watching Firefly and Harsh Realm. I've wanted to watch these for a long time and now w/ Netflix it's possible (I don't buy DVDs).
Now I really have no reason to even consider going back to cable or satellite. I do miss watching some hockey games, but oh well.

I have found so many amazing shows through netflix. Signing up and getting rid of cable was one of the best entertainment decisions I've made.

Not to rain on anyone's parade but their lineup of new releases isn't really all that impressive.
If I have a mystical experience, an experience that's so overwhelming that I know now that there's a God, the cognitive fallout from that is irrelevant. The fact that that experience can be explained by psychologists in numerous ways is irrelevant to the fact that I now know.

Truly. I really dig Netflix. I don't have cable, so its my sole source of televised-like entertainment outside of Hulu I guess (which I don't watch very often). But like you say, their new release selection is not that impressive, and for someone like me who's seen just about EVERYTHING I'm running out of things to watch. I'm sort of down to watching B and C quality movies, foreign flix (the few I haven't already seen), and documentaries about Cuban cars and This American Life. I like foreign films and documentaries, so that's good, but I'm getting to the bottom of the barrel on good stuff there too. But... I can't complain about the price.

Yeah, the price is good no doubt.

Their selection of documentaries is right on the border of amazing and visually inspiring. I've seriously spent hours upon hours watching biographical stuff on important dead people, the civil war, how planets form, etc. It's a nerd's entertainment paradise, and it costs less than a movie ticket!

Haven't watched Robin Hood. Watched 2 episodes of the IT Crowd and found the humor not at all my thing (I'm more of a Peep Show/That Mitchell and Webb Look, and The Mighty Boosch fan). Spartacus: Blood and Sand is bleh... basically mix a low budget 300 and Showtime style softporn with silly Shakespearean sounding dirty talk and you pretty much have the series in a nutshell. Still I watched the whole series.
I don't know why exactly. I suppose its because I'm a huge fan of the series Rome, and this is probably the closest I'm going to get to it in awhile. I wrote a pretty scathing review of the follow up mini-series, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena on IMDB, and only 19 out of 97 people found the review useful, which means most people hated what I had to say about it
