Favorite children's/young adult fantasy!
What are your favorite children's or young adult fantasy novels? That's been my main fiction reading theme for the past year or so, via audiobooks for the most part. (I tend to listen to fiction and read non-fiction). Here are some novels and series in that category that I like:
- The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis
- The Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander (that's where my username is from
) - Harry Potter by JK Rowling
- Septimus Heap by Angie Sage
- The Keys to the Kingdom by Garth Nix
- The Weirdstone of Brisingamen by Alan Garner

I enjoyed Eragon (Christopher Paolini), at least the first book. The second book had some slow parts. Don't bother with the movie though
There's an interesting psychology regarding the impetus behind which we find ourselves urged... nay, compelled, to read someone's entire signature.

The Dark Is Rising sequence by Susan Cooper
The Neverending Story by Michael Ende
Terry Brooks' Magic Kingdom books might qualify as YA.

I felt like that one was over the top, but I did like it overall.
Interesting. I've seen the movie but haven't read the book. Is the book much different? The Neverending Story by Michael Ende
I started the first one when I was a young adult, so it might.Terry Brooks' Magic Kingdom books might qualify as YA.
I'll probably revisit this series too, especially since I can get the audiobook.

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Toss up between Narnia and Harry Potter. Narnia is more meaningful (obviously) but I really enjoyed them both

Yes. In fact, I've basically been looking for a Harry Potter replacement ever since the series ended. That's why I like Septimus Heap so much. It has a similar subject matter and tone. Actually I like SH so much that now my goal is a SH replacement.
That's why I like the Keys to the Kingdom. The subject matter is pretty different and kind of hard to summarize, but the tone is similar.

I just finished reading "where's my mom?"
The pop up picture of the rabbit was my favourite. And I am glad the little duck found his mom in the end
Pin the tail on the donkey was more fun before people found out I was a donkey :/
