Psalms 43...
Unfortunately there are times when Godly people to ungodly things. A harsh word spoken. A promise broken. A thank you unspoken. An act of selfishness. A cold shoulder. Abandonment.
I know that to be true because I have been on the receiving end and I even been on the giving end at times. You expect it from ungodly people but when it comes from Godly people it really hurts deep down when that happens we begin to think of them as ungodly and our relationship with them begins to crumble at the same time along with our crumbling relationship we also begin to question our faith in God. Before long we find ourselves spiraling down into a pit where life becomes 3D, Depressed, Discouraged, and Disconnected.
Again I know this to be true because I have been there. From experience I know it is almost impossible to stop the fall and the pit seems bottomless yet at the same time I know the only thing I can do is pray. Psalms 43 is such a prayer.
"Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me! For you are the God in whom I take refuge; why have you rejected me? Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling! Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God. Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God." (Psalms 43:1-5 ESV)
While it may be impossible for us to stop our downward spiral the one tool we have at our disposal to slow it down is forgiveness. "Forgive them Father, for they no not what they do," Jesus prayed as he spiraled to the tomb.
The ACT of forgiving is one of the most powerful forces in a world where ungodly things happen to Godly persons!
To God be the Glory!
