      What happened to the demons?

There’s an incident in the synoptic gospels where Jesus exorcises a large group of demons from a man (or two men depending on the version). The story is told in Mark 5, Luke 8, and Matthew 8 and it takes place just after Jesus had crossed the sea to get away from gathering crowds.

When Jesus reached the other side, he was approached by a demon-possessed man. Jesus speaks to the demon and asks its name. It says its name is “Legion” because, it turns out, there are many of them dwelling inside the man. Now a legion was 6,000 men, so although it’s never stated precisely how many demons there were, it appears to have been a great number. At any rate, they realize Jesus is about to take them out of the man.

They ask Jesus not to send them out of the country. They also ask Jesus not to send them into the abyss. They notice some pigs nearby who are being taken watched by herdsmen. They ask Jesus to send them into the pigs instead of out of the country or the abyss and Jesus grants to their wish. When the pigs are infested with the demons they run down a steep embankment and are drowned in the lake.

The question is, what happened to the demons after the pigs were drowned? What could have happened to them? What are the possibilities?

The moved to Washington D.C. and became politicians. Baalzebub, however, still hasn't moved out of his parent's basement.

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'

'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

See, dear, the problem is you're not a serious seeker of truth, therefore you don't deserve a serious answer. Do you understand?

See, dear, this is a debate forum (supposedly). I'm perfectly entitled to bring up an issue from the Bible that I think could be problematic to see what the Christian response is. If you don't particularly like me personally, then just ignore my threads. Posting juvenille comments is just spiteful and disruptive. Please leave the thread to those who might like to discuss the matter.

What judgemnt do you mean? The final judgment?

And the question was where, not what. They asked not to go out of the country or into the abyss, so where did they go?

I like the "they went to Washington" answer best!

Ok...I presume that after the pigs drowned the Demon's suffered a judgement before God. whatever that was. As for the rest...I have a DNFTT policy.

The thing is, that instead of forming it as a question and coming across all cordial like you're actually interested in an honest answer -- which is just creepy to me (I can't speak for anyone else) -- why not just present it as a debate challenge?

Of course you would certainly get the verbal attacks (much like if I went into the NatSci section and posted as many threads against evolution as you do here against Christianity), but you might still earn at least a little respect.

I dunno was I? Was I having fun? Was I having fun in the sun?
Was I enjoying myself here or there?
Can I post an answer anywhere?
This message board was made in California in America you see,
where I do believe speech is free.
Thus it entitles me to occasionally right,
have a laugh when if there a be a funny might.
It also means a serious answer there may be,
and it entitles me to talk in Seuss-ish Poetry

And Tis True Tis true, a troll you are.

Though honest answer I gave about a judgement theory far. However the rest you see is up to the cat in the hat or Mr brown who Moo's.
I'd say free speech entitles me to a little fun..don't you?

It IS a debate challenge, dopey! It's a debate forum. It's APOLOGETICS. Where did I pretend this wasn't meant for debate? I don't have to phrase my questions in a way that's pleasing to seanD. Yet another "Christian" who can't deal with the question so he hides behind a gratuituous insult. Well done.
