Laudate Eum
If there's a better place for this thread could a moderator move it to the appropriate area please?
That's the name of the choir I'm singing in. We're a bunch of guys and gals (about 35-40) who decided that it would be fun to start a choir of our own. Most of us have an interest in music and/or singing and since we used to sing together all the time while we were hanging out we thought, why not? It didn't hurt either that this guy named Markus Wargh decided to take the role of choir leader. For those of you who doesn't know (which I think is pretty much everyone here) Markus Wargh is a musical genius who studied organ playing and improvisation at the Sibelius Academy and received his diploma with the highest honors possible in 1991, being the third person ever in the history of the academy to ever receive such high marks. Here's some youtube videos for those of you who are wondering what kind of organist he is:
But enough with Markus for now.
The reason I'm posting this thread, is that after about 1,5-2 years we decided to record a CD of some of the psalms and hymns and we've been singing, so last weekend we went over to Luleå in Sweden, where Markus is working as the church organist for Luleå Domkyrka (Domkyrka translates to Cathedral, for those of you who are wondering) and began recording the CD, which took 2 evenings, minus all the extra rehearsals.
Now in between the recording and the mixing of the CD, "our" mixer decided to release a small (1 min) demo of one of the songs we recorded. It's still the raw version, so it hasn't been edited yet, but I still think it would be a good idea to share it with you guys, and get to know what you guys think about it. The demo song is sung in Swedish, but you should atleast be able to tell if you like it, from a purely musical perspective. In the actual CD there's going to be a mix of both Swedish and English songs.

We're also looking at the possibility of making a video of the weekend when we recorded the CD, and putting up some of the psalms or hymns on youtube, but that's some time in the future. In the mean time I'd be interested in what you guys think of the demo.
This guy, among others, is going to be singing solo on the CD.
And in case someone missed the link to the raw demo:

Re: Laudate Eum
I wrote before that there was a possibility that some of the psalms/hymns on the CD would be uploaded on Youtube. A week ago a group of choir members decided to do just that.

In the first video we sing a Swedish psalm, and in the second video we sing a Swedish version of "In Christ Alone". I'd post one of the English psalms/hymns that we have too, but sadly none of these have been uploaded to Youtube, and I don't know if they ever will.
Tell me what you think. Criticism is allowed.
