Tribulation Button . .
If you had the "Start the 7 yrs of Tribulation" button mentioned in Revelations in front of you, would you push it . . . and why?

It would be like the most gruesome video game ever. It'd be like playing God, but for real.

In my opinion, the single most telling piece of evidence that shows how poorly we're manifesting our call to care for animals is the recent creation of factory farms. Over the last century we have, to a large degree, reduced farm animals to commercialized commodities whose only value is found in how efficiently we can produce and slaughter them for profit. Consequently, more than 26 billion animals each year are forced to live in miserable, overcrowded warehouses, where there is absolutely nothing natural about their existence and where they are subjected to barbaric, painful, industrial procedures.
This is a far cry from what God meant when he told us to exercise "dominion." (Pastor Greg Boyd.)

Re: Tribulation Button . .
The problem is that there are alot of us here (the ones that are Orthodox Preterists) that believe that the Tribulation has come and gone in the 1st century AD....so, that may be why your not getting alot of responses.
Of course, if you are a futurist, and you are post-trib, then you are obviously reluctant to push the button, because that means a LOT of hardship for you and everyone you know. If you are pre-trib, then you would probably not want to push it until you knew where everyone you care about stood in their walk with God. If I were one of the two futurist views, then I would only push it if I knew I could no longer persuade those that are nearest and dearest to me to accept Christ and be "saved". There would be too much grief otherwise.

I'd push it, God's providence will deal with my loved ones either way. Best to just get it out of the way, like taking cold medicine.

Re: Tribulation Button . .
The language used in Revelation is prophetic hyperbole, all the seals refer to events surrounding the AD 70 destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple, God's judgment on unbelieving Israel.
The number 1000 is symbolic. Depending on one's view, we're either in it (Amillenial) and Christ is reigning through the Church or else we're past it (postmillenial) and the world is steadily getting more Christianized until Jesus returns....the compass of existence held more than my text-books had revealed, more than I had ever dreamed of. No, it wouldn't be my place to decide when and where the most pivotal even in cosmic history would occur that would result in obscene numbers of death and instances of sorrow. Nobody in Revelation dared to open the sealed scroll when asked if there was anybody worthy; until God Himself took the responsibility.
In any case, it's a moot point. The Tribulation has been over for a good few millenia, anywho

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Yea, well, if the gods deign to smile on me, I occasionally have a good point to make
