    Robert Mueller appointed special counsel

    Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller to serve as special counsel to oversee the previously confirmed FBI investigation of Russian efforts to influence the 2016 presidential election and related matters.

    "I have determined that a Special Counsel is necessary in order for the American people to have full confidence in the outcome," Rosenstein said in a statement.

        This is troubling. Not because the special counsel will root out all of Trump's crimes -- every indication is that he hasn't committed any -- but because special counsels always turn these investigations into a political grandstanding and scapegoating exercise, which is exactly what the Democrats want and why they've been crying for a special counsel ever since Trump won the election. I really wish the Trump administration had stuck to its guns, because this could potentially grind his agenda to a halt. Which, again, is exactly what the Democrats, and some Republicans, want.

          Actually YOU put Trump in the White House. He wouldn't have gotten 1% of the vote if it wasn't for the widespread spiritual and cultural devastation caused by progressive policies.                     I'm of two minds on this. But I do believe that Mueller is a straight shooter, and not a grandstander...

                          And the idea that at least some of them were actually looking for the truth never entered your mind?

                          It appears a bit too easy to just presuppose that everyone who wants this to happen are in it because of bad and selfish motives. Is it, in any way, better than what you blame others for doing, namely presupposing that Trump did something wrong and had bad motives?
