I ran across this old picture the other day

I have had this for a couple decades. I have no idea who these girls are or any thing else about the photo. I just like it.

Note:I rotated this picture and it would not upload. No idea why.

The housing development where we're building our house had a restriction on bees. I was very surprised, because it's acreage "in the country", and the houses are far apart.

He just notified me yesterday, however, that he's thinking of dropping that restriction. We can actually get an AG EXEMPTION for keeping bees!

Thanks. I do not know why my properly rotated version would not load.

If you do it tell my how it goes.

Absolutely, and I'll need some guidance. They actually have a bee keeper school about twice a year at our local county fairgrounds.

I can answer lots of general type questions, but recall that the only place I have ever kept bees is Alaska, so my info on wintering is useless to you.

I would guess the restriction on bees is due to the colonization of Africanized queens. Somehow due to that I wouldn't want to keep bees in Texas. I hear that they're kinda common, hardy and have no natural predators.

Local beekeepers will have methods to avoid the "Killer Bees."
