The the first two arms are cut off for food, but they get rescued before the last guy has to cut off his and in order to be fair the last man decides to cut his arm off.

Four guys were shipwrecked and ran out of food, they agreed among themselves that they would in turn cut off their left arms for something to eat, and three of them did so, but they were rescued before the last guy cut off his arm. He promised that he would honour their agreement and cut off his arm and send it to them when he got home, but broke his promise, instead mugging and anaesthetising a homeless guy, cutting his arm off and sending it to the three of them instead.
