Re: I think I have Borderline Personality Disorder
Whatever the final diagnosis might be, you recognize harmful symptoms. If you don't have BPD that doesn't mean you don't have many or most of the traits. I have traits of Avoidant Personality Disorder. But I don't fit the diagnosis because I don't exhibit a few of them. But the traits that I do have, have greatly impacted and injured my life. Not having the full blown disorder doesn't mean you don't have serious problems. A doctor can help you ease your suffering and set you back on track to healthy mental well-being

Re: I think I have Borderline Personality Disorder
I have to say... sometimes the phrase "mental health" (or its variants like here) bothers me a bit.
Physical health is easy - a person is either alive or dead. Mental health... sometimes makes me wonder if we're just trying to find a nice label for coercion.
RG - Think of therapy like physical training (and your therapist a mental trainer). Figure out what you want to get "rid of" and "achieve" in your mind, and find someone who's willing to help you get there (beware of those who tell you what you should be)."One develops a cool and ironic sense of bitter humor, as well as a bloated ego, and this personality characteristic is the defining trait of atheists ancient and modern. If there is a meek and humble atheist or sorcerer brimming with the milk of human kindness, I have yet to meet him." -John C Wright
"Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded- here and there, now and then- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as “bad luck.”"
— Robert A. Heinlein
"America's political system used to be about the pursuit of happiness. Now More and more of us want to stop chasing it and have it delivered."
"The government cannot love you, and any politics that works on a different assumption is destined for no good."
"Government money only pays for the "liberties" the government thinks you should have, and therefore it can determine how you exercise them. That turns liberties into privileges dispensed at the whim of the state."

Re: I think I have Borderline Personality Disorder
I wouldn't put much validation in self diagnosis via an online test module. Or measuring one-self against a list of symptoms.
Apparently you have Aspergers. Is that correct?
I would have thought a lot of the symptoms associated with that would overlap with those perported to indicate Borderline Personality dissorder. This would make it difficult to say with any certainty that you do have BPD.
Do you have any ongoing councilling to help you deal with your Aspergers?
Like most others here I would suggest you seek professional advise.

In reaction to Richwine Affair, all right-thinking people are quick to proclaim that they don’t believe in a genetic basis for IQ. They’re much less quick to explain – with any sort of precision – what they actually do believe in. At best, we’re treated to some hand-waving paired with the phrase “social construct.”.

Re: I think I have Borderline Personality Disorder
No. Never have done. My mum and dad took me to see a child psychiatrist and got me diagnosed when I was 6... and then did nothing. I got some basic, rudimentary help in a handful of classes, but that was about it. My mum and dad spent most of their time dealing with my violent, psychopathic cousin whom they took into their care because my aunty could not look after her.

See a doctor about this. It's very easy to read yourself into a list of symptoms.
My dad has been diagnosed with BPD by a psychologist. It's really not fun.

Re: I think I have Borderline Personality Disorder
Really?
I suppose it depends where you are on the autistic scale but I would have thought that you would have quite a hard time growing up without some intervention and assistance with coping strategies and the like.
I think of people with autism / aspergers as being kind of disconnected. From your postings and your You tube stuff I don't get a strong sense of that.
But then I'm no expert.
I would seek professional help with any concerns you have.
No offense to school/University councillors but I never found the ones I saw to be very helpful.

Re: I think I have Borderline Personality Disorder
Welcome to my world. Anybody else would have crumbled like a Rivita by now and left crushed and lifeless like crisps under Bison. It is the likely and probable reason why I am exhibiting BPD like traits now. My childhood has traumatised me and my fears have become phobias.

Re: I think I have Borderline Personality Disorder
You are one of the more rational, sound minded people on TWeb. I find it difficult to believe you have any kind of mental defect. You sound more like a regular guy with a troubled past. Uncommon but not rare. You're way too cognizant of yourself and far too able to hold a coherent, logical, and most of all, rational conversation. Frankly I would be more likely to suspect other members of this here TWeb who don't claim any issues to actually have a good number of them.
You personally put me in a dilemma. In order for me to accept you self-diagnosis while considering what I already stated about you above, I must also undermine and undervalue scriptures like 2 Cor. 10:5, "Casting down all imaginations...bringing into captivity every thought..." and 2 Tim. 1:7, "...God did not give us a spirit of fear....but...sound mind/self-discipline/good judgment/etc...."
What do you suggest I do with this RG?
Edit:
Hope this doesn't sound cold. I have nothing but love for you brother. I just don't know what to do with it or how to think about it while keeping these things in mind...

Re: I think I have Borderline Personality Disorder
That is some thing psychology and mind relevant .I have read that some times some issues or missing values from younger age really make things bad or worse on elder age.I think so and any doctor will definitely be a better idea.

Re: I think I have Borderline Personality Disorder
The New Scientist magazine dated 27 August 2011 has an article on borderline personality disorder. See "Fix You" on pages 46-49.
It's interesting, but not necessarily practically helpful, because therapies are expensive.
