Exercise
I successfully dropped 15 pounds by increasing my exercise. I now walk twice a day, everyday. I go solo and keep my pace up to a brisk walk. I also mix in some jogging, but my knees can only take so much.
What is your favorite physical exercise?
Do you do it solo, with one friend, or in a group?
How often to you do it?Micah 6:6. With what shall I come before the Lord, bow before the Most High G-d? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with yearling calves? 7. Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with myriad streams of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8. He has told you, O man, what is good, and what the Lord demands of you; but to do justice, to love loving-kindness, and to walk discreetly with your G-d.

Re: Exercise
I've dropped about 20 pounds since I started walking to/from the bus stop most days for work 3 months ago. My resting pulse rate is also down to 56 bpm. I really don't like to exercise, but it's been quite beneficial.

Re: Exercise
I ride my bike when it's nice out, and I work out almost daily.
I used to never work out. I think the key is momentum, your body just wants to do what it's done the past few years and resists change. What did it for me was moving from a high-stress, high-physical work job to a medium-stress, low-physical job. My body craved the physical activity.
My exercise regimen consists of jumping jacks (if i don't bike ride), sit ups, sometimes push ups, and weight training. For the weight training I don't have a consistent regimen. There are so many exercises you can do for different muscle groups... I hate doing push ups so I've been using weights to work those muscles.Living so free is a tragedy

Re: Exercise
Just yesterday I made a personal lifetime achievement. I did 40 sit-ups in a row. Never did close to that many before.

Re: Exercise
I've been working out for 30-35 minutes every morning on the elliptical I got for free from a friend. It's the kind with the arms that imitate cross country skiing. It also has adjustible tension settings. I listen to the radio as I "ride"... I haven't lost an ounce in the 4 weeks I have been doing it....

Re: Exercise
My favorite exercise is swimming because it's the only exercise I've discovered that you can push yourself hard in and then come out of it feeling completely relaxed and not intolerably sore. Not just relaxed by kind of glowing with a mild euphoria. That might be just me, though, I imagine if you're hydrophobic it would be a different experience. I've just started weight training at the gym after a hiatus but I get scared I'm going to hurt myself somehow, like with a hernia

Re: Exercise
I did a bunch of Yoga recently. I was strarting to become stiff(er). It is surprisingly rigerous. I lost some weight. Of course, I also stopped drinking lattes every day.
Other than that, I like incline machines and weights.
Come to think of it, does anybody have a good book or similar recommendations on work out regimens? I can motivate myself fairly well. What I don't know is what to do.Dropping a few Eschatology Bombs, or "Let's think before we endorse another way."

Re: Exercise
Once the weather turned this year, I dragged my bicycle out of the garage and cleaned/primed/greased/inflated it up. I took it for a good 15 minute ride and by the time I was huffing and puffing due to lack of exercise, I decided I wanted to do it again and again. Two weeks later, now I'm up to 16.5 minutes with little huffing, and a bit of puffing.
Joking aside, cycling is most rewarding for myself. Hard climbs resulting in wonderful downhill lengths (keep your brakes tapped). There's an interesting psychology regarding the impetus behind which we find ourselves urged... nay, compelled, to read someone's entire signature.
