Apologetics 301 Guidelines

If you think this is the area where you tell everyone you are sorry for eating their lunch out of the fridge, it probably isn't the place for you

This forum is open discussion between atheists and all theists to defend and debate their views on religion or non-religion. Please respect that this is a Christian-owned forum and refrain from gratuitous blasphemy. VERY wide leeway is given in range of expression and allowable behavior as compared to other areas of the forum, and moderation is not overly involved unless necessary. Please keep this in mind. Atheists who wish to interact with theists in a way that does not seek to undermine theistic faith may participate in the World Religions Department. Non-debate question and answers and mild and less confrontational discussions can take place in General Theistics.

We should also find things like dolphins and Ichthyosaurs mixed together in the same sediments since they both occupied the same ecological niche. The same with rhinos and Triceratops as well as eagles and pterosaurs. Further, there should be signs of human habitation at the bottom layer -- things like towns and villages or at least firepits, middens and fabricated tools -- which were covered by the flood. And these things should be under the remains of things like ammonites and trilobites which were buried in the layers of sediment laid down over them by the flood.

How would heavy particulate reach higher altitudes? Once the water reached significant depth, wouldn't it behave more like an ocean than a flood? Also, is the short (geologically speaking) time frame really enough to expect to find a sizable number of such incongruous creatures (would most even be fossilized?)? And why do you assume dinosaurs were still around?

More to the point, why was it “reasonable” to wipe out every man, woman and child plus every other living creature because of the disobedience of some? God clearly has anger-management issues.

That is the least of my problems with the story's credibility.

Well true, its just the issue that came to my mind when half my yard became part of a lake in a two day long downpour.

Especially since the idea didn't work out. You'd think god would have known that ahead of time, instead of having to repent for it.

We would also find that the isotopes used for radiometric dating would be evenly distributed through the geological column, given it was laid down in just a year. For example, the ratio of potassium-40 to argon-40 should be the same or should be random. Instead, the proportion of argon increases steadily as you go down the column. It is the same for other dating schemes.

And the one with 'anger management issues' is you.

Um, you got something better than wiki for this? I'm not disputing - but I'd like a better source to research from.

ETA: specifically, why should we expect that?

It was in front of your nose if you read the wiki article. The Bibliography is very extensive from scientific sources. Nonetheless, the wiki article is excellent and comprehensive without reading all ther references cited.

I didn't ask you - for freaking obvious reasons.

Are you genetically incapable of being kind or do you just enjoy being a jerk?

This is the totally unnecessarily crass response of a "jerk".

You think! What did the humble koala ever do to warrant being mercilessly drowned? And, BTW, how did Mr & Mrs Koala get back to Australia from Mount Ararat on their short little legs?
