The weather report for Martha's Vineyard
The weather in Martha's Vineyard today is going to be partly cloudy with a high of 81.
President Obama, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and other Bourgeois Marxists should have a wonderful day in paradise.Living so free is a tragedy

Re: The weather report for Martha's Vineyard
By this point in his term, President Bush had taken nearly three times the vacation days of President Obama.

Re: The weather report for Martha's Vineyard
Partisan much?
Bush took a crap-ton of vacation time, he usually went to his ranch or IIRC Camp David. Hardly the opulent getaway for the super-rich, which is Martha's Vineyard. Considering Obama's view of the economy, I'm shocked (lol) that he doesn't vacation somewhere cheaper and give the difference to the poor. I guess when you are a bourgeois socialist you can live the high life.Living so free is a tragedy

Re: The weather report for Martha's Vineyard
Apparently, Reagan took a 25-day vacation at his ranch in Santa Barbara, CA about this same time in 1983. Reagan was, at the time, dealing with over 9% unemployment.
I guess it's Obama's fault for not deciding to vacation more cheaply by buying his own private ranch . . . but that criticism seems a bit petty.

Re: The weather report for Martha's Vineyard
Why are conservatives complaining that the drooling cretin is taking a vacation? He should be encouraged to take all the vacations he wants. The less he does the better.
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Re: The weather report for Martha's Vineyard
I guess you can't see the irony in that remark eh?
Who cares where he took his vacation, point is he took it where he wanted to, and he took more than triple the vacation time than has Obama, and guess who never said a word about it? Well, I'm guessing that would be you Sheepdog. Oh, btw Obama spent most of his vacation days at camp david as well.Bush took a crap-ton of vacation time, he usually went to his ranch or IIRC Camp David. Hardly the opulent getaway for the super-rich, which is Martha's Vineyard.
Hey do do, he is the president of the U.S., probably the most difficult and stressful job in the world at one of the most difficult and stressful times in history, and your going to complain because he takes less time off than the guy, you know your guy, who destroyed the economy? I mean, talk about being partisan, could you get any pettier?Considering Obama's view of the economy, I'm shocked (lol) that he doesn't vacation somewhere cheaper and give the difference to the poor. Re: The weather report for Martha's Vineyard
Well, I'd argue that you're criticizing Obama by your perception of his policies and ideals, rather than objectively. I don't think that Obama has ever said anything that would make his vacationing at Martha's Vineyard hypocritical.
More hypocritical, to me, is excusing Reagan for taking 25 days of vacation at a private ranch while criticizing Obama for taking 10 days of vacation at the Vineyard purely on the basis of your distinction between liberal and conservative, Republican and Democrat. Unless you really believe that Obama is a communist at heart, it's hard to see how this could be anything other than a trumped-up criticism . . . especially in light of the great difference in vacation days Obama has taken thus far compared to other recent presidents.

Re: The weather report for Martha's Vineyard
Criticizing the President isn't partisan in itself. Liberals have been criticizing him more lately.
It's the "two wrong's make a right" mentality that is highly partisan.

why would i need to, you liberals were screaming and balling about it, i wouldn't have had a word in at any rate.

You are completely and utterly missing my point. Bush did not have the animosity against the rich enjoying their wealth, the way that this President hates it. Obama condescendingly wags his finger at the "rich," while thoroughly enjoying the opulence of his wealth and his position. Frankly I don't care how much time he, Bush, Glinton, Sr., Reagan, or whoever else spent on vacation time. My problem here is the obvious and blatant hypocrisy.Living so free is a tragedy

As I told Opie here, the length of the vacation time is irrelevant to me. Reagan wasn't a populist who condemned the rich and called for "spreading the wealth around" meanwhile enjoying the opulence of his own wealth and position. He certainly did enjoy such things, as any President has; but he didn't condemn others for doing the same thing.More hypocritical, to me, is excusing Reagan for taking 25 days of vacation at a private ranch while criticizing Obama for taking 10 days of vacation at the Vineyard purely on the basis of your distinction between liberal and conservative, Republican and Democrat. Re: The weather report for Martha's Vineyard
Yes, that's the problem: you are operating from the idea that Obama believes that the rich should not enjoy the fruits of their labor. This perception is wrong, of course, since Obama has simply said that the rich can "afford to give back a little more."
And this is an example of your confusion: you link to an article where Obama is calling for closing tax loopholes for corporate jet owners. Not an article where Obama claims people shouldn't be able to buy corporate jets or where Obama says that ownership of corporate jets is some sort of an evil, but rather an article where Obama claims that corporate jet owners can afford to have the loophole closed. This is in no way hypocritical with Obama vacationing in the Vineyard.
Neither has Obama — he has rather stated that the wealthy, who enjoy such stability, benefits and (sometimes) opulence, can afford to have their taxes raised from the present historically low rate. You are criticizing Obama based on a caricature of his policies and actions that you have let replace what he's actually said and done.
Where has Obama claimed that it's always bad to be rich or to live an upper-class lifestyle?

See, unlike JimL and Neil above, this is how rational man have conversation.
You are wise, Ansgar, to my knowledge Obama hasn't explicitly condemned the enjoyment of wealth itself. I completely withdraw my complaint.Living so free is a tragedy
