this is actually pretty interesting stuff to me (the existence argument) but I don't have a background in philosophy so I am not sure I understand the problem very well with the leaf. After RC answers, I would like a shot at solving the problem. I may just be showing my ignorance though.

How do you explain change? Such as a green leaf becoming red? Does the redness exist in the green leaf or not? Where does the red come from? Where does the green go? Something either changes by being or non-being. It cannot change by non-being because that is nothing. It cannot change by being because that is what it is and being cannot become non-being. Therefore, change is an illusion.

You guys are sounding like Martin Heidegger now. I bought his book awhile back 'cause it kept getting referenced in my readings . . . Being and Time, I think it was. I could understand the first paragraph but after that . . . nada.

Anyone else ever try and read Heidegger. 'Bout as much fun as reading The Sound and the Fury, by William Faulkner. Now that's a book!
