Ten Years
Today is my tenth wedding anniversary, so I wrote my wife this poem (as I have been doing for a while now for each anniversary and for her birthday):
Ten years
Ten years of unity, Ten years of joy,
Ten years we’ve been more than a girl and a boy.
Ten years are like yesterday, ten years have flown by,
Ten years to look back on and happily sigh.
Ten years that created four beautiful lives,
Ten years of a home where everyone thrives.
Ten years that inspired my creative side,
Ten years I have run, jumped, laughed, played and cried.
Ten years I have shared my innermost thoughts,
Ten years I’ve enjoyed your faithful support.
Ten years have my shoulders been wet with your tears,
Ten years they relieve all your burdens and fears.
Ten years that have changed me, ten years I have grown,
Ten years worth far more than all that I own.
Ten years with their failures and minor regrets,
Along with great moments to never forget.
Ten years that have made us a beautiful team,
Ten years of a treasure that still has its gleam.
Ten years of a means to a wonderful end,
Ten years that have certainly been heaven-sent."Nakonec pravda vitezi" (in the end, the truth wins)

Re: Ten Years
I love that you write poetry for your wife for anniversaries and birthdays. My husband does the same for me, only his are usually silly instead of sentimental. But the idea is the same, and I love his poems, as I am sure your wife loves yours.

Re: Ten Years
Thank you, some of them are more humorous, like this one from earlier this year, celebrating eleven years from our first contact (it was a little over 5 months from our first contact to getting engaged, then another year to our wedding):
Ten and One
Ten and one strange years ago,
I took a crazy chance
To venture down an unused road
And learn a foreign dance.
Not knowing what to do or say
I stumbled best I could
Nervous tension slowly changed
To foolish hope of good.
Then this foolish hope became
A warmth that shook me deep
A friendship closer than I’d known
A heart I’d long to keep.
Further shocks would come my way
Upon one darkened slope
You fell into my arms and then
I truly dared to hope.
“Let’s clarify, we’re friends, no more.”
We did agree that night,
But soon it was quite plain that we
Each other did delight.
From there a short if bumpy track
To a question poorly asked
But you agreed, despite my flaws
And in your love I basked
In offices I sighed and fumed
As papers were obtained
To allow me to become all yours
And be together chained
(the most comfortable and wonderful chains I’ve ever worn, btw
)
