sometimes you get so tired of the shell, most people aren't consciously thinking of themselves as souls but those who do know what I mean

What I believe is that the Soul is the mind, body and spirit together. We ARE souls. but then the bible isn't too clear on the matter. it seems to use it both as a living person, and as a spirit.

hmm, i always feel like the soul is USING the body until called home, and the soul, when recognized by the mind, whom I think it has a closer relationship with than the body (i went there!) gets desperate to leave, and when it can't it feels the restlessness that all the Christian poets talk about

and the soul and the mind sometimes don't get along, the body is like the not so sharp big guy that just takes orders. When the mind thinks it's smarter than the soul, the soul reminds the mind that without it the mind would just blurt out any random undisciplined thought. The mind gets upset at the soul when this is pointed out and the mind proceeds to remind the soul that without him the soul would have no where to voice his instruction.

the two are at a standstill and the soul nudges the mind and states

Soul: "Let's just take it easy and go get some coffee, i think we could use it"

Mind: "Fine! I'll go send the message but we're not through here...should we go to starbucks or dunkins?"

Soul: "That's up to you dude, not my department"

Are you aware of any human that has ever created a soul?

I remember the Tower of Babel as a warning sort of to NOT attempt technological things we are not meant to have. Is there other sources that would illuminate this problem for us?

Personally, I think any free agent is culpable and potentially redeemable. As long as we're not talking about robots who, no matter how ingenious their programming is that makes them SEEM like us emotionally and otherwise, can not deviate from some kind of programming and who in fact do not think but simply do, a free agent of any kind would have a "soul".

The question is moot. We can't create souls, so we aren't able to put them into machines.

A better question that is more relevant is, should we create machines that can think for themselves. Most of the works of fiction seem to argue against it. As soon as machines can think on their own, most of the fiction authors think that the machines will realize how inefficient humans are and will attempt to destroy us.

This question has always intrigued me. Can replicants have a soul (replicants along the line of those in Blade Runner).

The Nexus-6 model are indistinguishable from humans except in some ways superior in intellect and physically.

Although it seems credible to argue that no, they would not and could not have souls, the character Batty, in one of the closing and most famous scenes of the movie, saves Deckhard's life. It is an extremely moving and effective scene. In this scene and in others the replicants seem to be even more human than many of the cynical humans that are their masters.

Would God forgive these miserable individuals . . . a product of industrialized slavery . . . and give them a soul?
